My collie is 7.......and until our old boy died a couple of years ago.....she was never greedy or permanently on the scrounge for food.

She ate her dinner early evening and she wouldn't furrage through bins or jump up on the counter to get more.

She does now though and she's driving me CRAZY.?

Do you think she may have wanted to do it in the past but he was always the more foreceful personality......?

She was an ANGEL before but now she's knocking the kids over if there's a chance there's food in the offing xx

Nope done that McB.

It's nothing physical.....I used Drontal wormer on her too.....so plenty strong enough xx

Maybe he was topdog and she now thinks she is in charge of your "pack"..............just a thought.

Yep that's what I'm thinking Kitty......she sees pack leadership as doing what he used to do ......... I know it's in dogs nature to scrounge and look for food but it's out of character for her and has fast become a really irritating habit xx

Hello Muffy............from my experience it's usually the bitch in the household that is more dominant , my dog would never try to get food from the elder bitch ( she pulls the most horrid alien face at him if he even thinks about it .........lol ).

Is your collie losing weight ? maybe something is a bit wrong with her Thyroid......that can cause increased appetite.

Broggy I have hot flushes etc but don't jump on the work tops or scrounge in the bins LOLLOL.

I only have bitches here now Amanda and when the boy was alive......no way would the girls have taken food from him....lol.

She's not losing weight......slightly thickening if anything but my late old lady started to fill out a bit at this age too.....she's not overweight or underweight and I would say she's in tip top condition really. xx

I used to have a lovely collie cross bitch ( named Pug ) , in her old age she became rather naughty regarding food.........she once ate a whole freshly cooked by Mother , apple pie.......we had left her in the car with it for five minutes whilst we picked the kids up from school.........came back to no pie and a very guilty looking Pug..........lol

LOL Yeah I think Fleur would do that too given half the chance now !!!!.

It's so wierd because before the old man died we could've left her in a room with any kind of food and she wouldn't have touched it !!!!

My late old lady was never mithered about food even in *middle age* and she was a collie too........

Now I am not a dog person at all... but collie's are they normally sheep dogs ? I remember a women in the pub telling meher dog was a collie and it was forever rounding her up and pushing her .....yes I know goes back to stroking the cat...la...de...la..la

Yes Hayley.......like the ones on one man and his dog lol....she is VERY protective of the girls when we're out and DOES try to round up the chickens if you let her so the instinct is strong but she would never DARE try that with me !!! lol

Kay........she gets plenty enough food hon........and a variety of different things too not just boring old dog food ;0)
