Hi All,

Thank you for the messages.
Mo, my late mother took sleeping tablets for many years, the doctor also told her that they were non addictive, but she found she couldn't get to sleep without them.
I don't want to start taking sleeping tablets because I have been taking
anti depressants, off and on for ten years.

Debbie, you are probably right about the tea keeping me awake, the trouble is, I think that I am addicted to it. Ever since I started with depression, I find that I can't concentrate long enough to read a book. So I buy magazines, and read those instead.
I hope your two sons will enjoy their trip to Portsmouth.

Jean and Marilyn I hope you are both well. Enjoy your weeend!

Sallie

I suspect a usb pen is the same as a memory stick. Also called pen drive.

Huia Report 9 May 2009 00:01

Sallie, I had that problem a few years ago. I found if I thought of a colour (green is a nice soothing one) and tried to fill my mind with that colour it seemed to block out other thoughts. Perhaps you could try to see if it works for you.
Huia.

Sallie Report 9 May 2009 00:20

Yes Huia you are right, my husband has just told me, that a usb pen is a memory stick.

Thank you for your suggestion, I'm going to give it a try.

Sallie.

Morning all. Have woken to a glorious day here, hope you all have the same wherever you are. Now that DONGLE'S have become MEMORY STICKS I know what you are talking about!! I have to say that I was more than a little confused about it all.

The boys got off ok thismorning. Neither of them are competing till lunchtime so they have time to warm up and watch some of the other events going on.

Hubby woke with pounding headache after his snooker dinner last night, and promptly took himself back to bed. Serves him right, no sympathy from me or the other 2 children at all.

We have a bank holiday of sorts here today. 9th May 1945 Jersey was libertated from the German Occupation, so we always remember that day. The day starts with sombre and poignant church services and the like, then moves onto more joyous celebrations. So there is something for everyone, whether you want to reflect on the past or celebrate our freedom.

We have a lot of German fortifications over here which are maintained by various historical groups and they are usually all open to the public on a day like today. I never tire of looking round them as they are improved on annually and there is always something different to see.

So, from a Celebratory Island of Jersey, here's wishing you all a very happy and peaceful Saturday in your part of the world.

Good evening everyone, nice to hear from you all.
How did the boys get on Debbie? have you heard from them yet.
Serves your OH right,if he had a headache this morning, going of and leaving you on your own,to get things sorted out for the boys big day, shame on him lol. No pity coming from this quarter I'm afraid. I hope you have enjoyed your celebrations today.
Oh Grace, you are a one. All these gizmo's you have got. I only just know how to work this flipping laptop.
I have never been on face book, even though all my kids and grandkids are
on there.
How long will you be in herne bay for Grace? Is it just for a couple of weeks,or are you staying longer?
Not long till Maries birthday,I must not forget. It's o.k I am just reminding
myself,it's nearly as bad as talking to yourself isn't it,writing it all down on here.
Good to hear from you Huia, hope all is well in your part of the world.
Love and best wishes to you all. Special xxxx for our Jean~~~~~~~~~

I joined Facebook a month or 2 back at the suggestion of a relative but I cant see why everybody gets all excited about it. There seem to be a lot of stupid comments added to it on my page, talking to each other and I dont know half of them.

Morning All. Thought I would log in early today as I am up and about already. The strong wind outside woke me early and I've managed to get quite a lot done thismorning.
Jean, thinking of you today. I hope all goes well with the Hospital.
Marie, you are probably at the end of your birthday now, but hope it was a good one.

The boys got back safely last night from their athletics. Daniel did well and got Personal Bests in 1500m, 3000m and equalled his best in high jump, earning a medal for his efforts.

Matthew wasn't quite as lucky, but because this is his first season of competing, he got personal bests in everything as he had nothing to compare to. He managed well though and did, 100m, 800m, 1500m running and long jump.

They are both exhausted but really enjoyed the experience.

I hope everyone here has a great day.

Debbie, both the boys did exceptionally well. Daniel with his medals for effort, and Matthew for his personal best. Now that Matthew has his times,he can only get better,as he has something to aim for. Tell them both well done from me.
I am wondering how Jeans husband got on,as we have not heard from her yet today.
And I hope Marie, that you had a lovely birthday.
Love and all the best to you all. Mo xxx

Thanks Jean & MO,

We didn't do anything special if fact we had fish & chips and mushy peas !!!
We did enjoy it......flowed with wine .LOL

After all these years I still remember THE day...We paid 11/6 per head for 40 guests, and when I look back, I just wonder how we did it.
My parents gave us £30 and we bought Kitchen table & chairs.
So as my parents had 4 children that's all she could afford .
So we had to pay for the wedding.
I can remember we only had £5 to last until the next wage day ...LOL

But here we are still together, but much better off and spoil ourselves with lots of holidays .
Jean I hope hubby is not to worried about that op..what has to be done has to be done !!.
Going to watch the telly now.

Hello All

Glad everything at the hospital worked out better than you both thought Jean. Hope you can both relax a little before next months op.
Lets hope we get some nice weather and you can get away.

Eldest Son had his birthday and loved the table tennis table. Played it a lot all ready, great family fun even if he beats me everytime.
He also is playing cricket at school and enjoying him self. So maybe he will get on all right without his football.

Hope you had a good birthday Marie.

Just had a photo sent to me by someone I got in contact with via genes. It Is a war grave for my great grandfather. My Mum never knew him.
She lost her Mum at the age of 4 and her dad at the age of 5 then was brought up in care. It is a funny thing doing research I know more about my mums family then she every did. It is nice when people send you things to do with your tree.

Glad to read you are well now Mo.

Take care all.
Sue

Good morning friends,Well I slept so much better last night, its like you
are in a hurdle race, when you wait for results and deadlines, you get over one then another is right in front of you, and they seem to get higher as you carry on.....

I am getting now I shall either crawl under or walk round them lol.one thing I have learnt, time never stands still, so onwards and upwards.......
what I long for now is a long period of warm sunshine better than any medicines....We love taking a picnic and chairs to sit out usually beside a stream, the noise of water is so soothing.mmmm I am there already.....
Back to reality, off to sort the washing out then face the shopping !!!
(whoops dont know what happened there I never know how to move the writing back up)....have a good day take care out there....

Love to everyone Jean xx.
