One of mine has someone in to do the ironing....must admit I was a bit gobsmacked when I found out lol, but I suppose if one can afford it and the need is there, then why not.

Her Lady loves doing it and says there are many who need her services for a variety of reasons and she meets all kinds people which makes the job more interesting.....some ironing she takes home with her and others she does in the persons home.

I wish someone would come and do mine but I am too mean lol

Hi Julie - I hate ironing and would gladly pay someone to do it, if I could afford to.

OH on the other hand absolutely loves ironing and would do it all, if I let him. I dont let him though, as he is still at work and I'm retired now so feel too embarrassed to expect him to do the ironing.

He says that he finds it relaxing, but I think it's a waste of time cos I iron a shirt one day and the next evening it's back in the washer!!!

A friend of mine used to iron for a rather grand household some years back, cos she really enjoyed ironing and this household did not believe in having any "carre-free" items of clothing - everything was cotton or linen!!! Blooming hard work if you ask me, but if you dont mind ironing and people are prepared to pay you for doing it for them, then go for it!!! I image you would have to calculate your charge to take into account energy bills etc.

Good luck, whatever you decide.

Jac xxx (a rather crumpled one at that!!)

Hi Julie

I absolutely LOATHE ironing and I do sometimes get it done by a service. They come in a van and collect it one day, then bring it all back ironed, on hangers and plastic covered the next day. They charge £20 for a black bag of mixed stuff - t-shirts, shirts, jeans, dresses, tops etc

I think there is definitely a demand for it. you might be surprised what some give you though - I've known people who iron socks, underpants, sheets, towels - life's too short for all that!

Worth sticking a card in the supermarket or the newsagent's window, or take out a little ad in the local paper.

Good luck m'dear :-))

No I wouldn't pay anyone to do mine.

I have in the past been paid to do other peoples ironing and housework.

There are only two household chores that I enjoy, ironing and cooking.

If I could afford to I would have a cleaning lady come in once a week as I hate housework.

I do have a young woman that comes twice a year to wash the white aluminum shutters, and clean all the glass windows, she is a good worker and it takes the whole day to do it,

The rest of the time I manage one or two shutters and windows a fortnight and then am out of breathe and bloody moody with aching arms.

Lindy who needs a smaller house but the market is cooperating.
