Just re reading this thread and see that Dorcas is based on the Postmistress at Fringford, I have been there as my aunt before she and her husband retired, living in a cottage on a farm just a few miles from there, at a place called Newton Morrell. It was just the farm and it's two cottages on the road from Buckingham to Bicester and along from Newton Purcell. A wonderful place that I spent time at a couple off times when I was young. My uncle worked on the farm for 'The Missus' and my aunt helped her in the house.

I ended up early hours this morning looking at property for sale in the area, especially my Dad's home village where it is mainly very expensive, sadly lots of new build going on so the smallish village is spreading and getting closer to the edge of Buckingham, will spoil it a bit I think. There were some properties being sold at Lark Rise, lol, cashing in on the book etc I suppose.
It does make the programme and story more interesting still with it being set around the area my ancestors lived and worked in.

Liz, it must be all the more enjoyable when you know the history and area.... I always love it when areas we have visited are on the tele, just so I can say I remember that or I have walked down that street ......
I love finding out where various programmes have been made too.

Just Jean,

Dorcas might well be looking in: there is a Larkrise to Candleford blog I was reading the other day and she was on there. Lots of people were querying if it was really her (Julia Sawalha) but the general consensus is that it was indeed. She said she liked to see what viewers really thought.

Last one of the series, blinky eck ,Dorcas quieter than ever...but glad its coming back, over the weeks its been great to see the various parts evolve, I love the set too.

I was upset by the last episode.
The idea that that poor man should find a son and then lose him to Dorcas??
Poor man. All his young life he struggled and it all ends like this?
Ah well perhaps the next series will bring them together again.
Am I alone or do any of you feel that men are being badly treated these days? EVEN in drama they have lost their place in society.
I am of an age which thought that equality was going to maker us EQUAL!! But no it has divided us and made men into inferior beings.
O.M.G.... I must be tired, I am getting serious.
Deanna X
Be careful all you who think this is a good thing.... we all have sons. Is this what you want for your sons and Grandsons?

I was looking for the link to the site as I wanted to make a copy of the dates, knowing my great grandfather would have probably known the father and worked with him, being a stonemason too, but someone seems to have deleted all the info, why?

I haven't seen the latest and last episode as have to watch or record the repeat on one evening this week.

Liz I cant understand why there are so many deletions, they weren't there before, perhaps someone can pm you with the details... spoils the thread though....

Hi Jean, I don't understand why everything has been deleted either, all presumably by one poster but it doesn't make sense.

Hope you are ok.

Arctic blonde, my husband noticed the vapour trail. Well. I did too, but decided to ignore it.... He is really good (or bad) at noticing continuity errors, too, although he has enjoyed this series.

JustJean

JustJean Report 23 Mar 2009 20:08

Christina, we dont know who keeps deleting , its happening on other threads and no one owns up... it does spoil the info which is very interesting,
I think its brilliant how the history of the storyline has unfolded.....so thanks to everyone who contributed, roll on the next series.

Just adding to bookmark, as I would like to read all your contributions a bit later.

I must say though, as a 58 year old grumpy, so not normally my scene, I really love the program and have to admit it brings the odd tear each time I watch.

Yes, it is all a bit sanitised but so what, a really enjoyable programme.

As far as hearing is concerned, as we get older our top end hearing fails rapidly. In fact it falls away from the mid 20's. Made worse if you were used to standing in front of Marshall amps at full lblast.

So yes, turn up the treble to full and crank up the volume, as long as there are not very young children around.
