Mac you won't need Urdu lol, but maybe a lttle practise with your Spanish as there seemed to be an influx of Spanish speakers asking directions :) I always get asked for directions, must look as if I 'belong' ! Good luck at Kew!

LOL Mac! no trouble understanding that at all :)

I was hoping to get out to Chiswick and have a nose about, but didn't manage it...did get to the Guildhall Library though! had a quick look through the apprentice records and general Lightermen/Watermen records , fascinating ( eek first time I had used a microfiche viewer! ) will have to go back when I have more time .

Hello Jean :) It is a wonderful river..when we went on the Clippers (several times :) , particularly beautiful one evening just as the sun was setting and the light hit the river and houses of Parliament ) I thought about my gt grandfather and his before him going up and down it on their barges ..I've always felt a great affinity with the river even before I knew my ancestors worked on it.

View from the London Eye was amazing too, in fact I loved everything we did, Covent Garden, Trafalgar Square...all the little back alleys and the mix of old and new architecture...just a wonderful city :)))))

I quite like London too :))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

Rose.... you must cross the Thames from St Pauls or Tate Modern side and stand in the middle looking up and down the river. Best view in the world.

I've been to London twice and it is such an exciting city. Londoners are special people - I know because my father in law was one and he was such a character. No matter where they live they are always Londoners. Glad you are having a wondeful time, Rose.
