To pull up a person that lies a lot on the lies they tell......or best to sit back and let them get on with it...........even if they are making themselves look bleedy stupid.

While we were out at the beach today I met up with a woman whose daughter used to go to same nursery as my youngest.......but the girls went to different infant schools........

She tried to tell me that her daughter......who is in year one.......is actually so gifted she's been *promoted* to year 3.......and that it's causing her daughter probs as the other kids are jealous.

Thing is........I KNOW that's not true as I'm in touch with several other mothers whose children went to the nursery then onto that school.......

She used to do it all the time at nursery and more often than not we'd just snigger behind our hands at her.

But today I was so tempted to say..........Why on EARTH are you lying woman!!!!!!!!!

What do you think? Would it have been a kindness in the long run to have pulled her up on it? or best to just nod and smile and let her carry on looking like a wally?xx

Norr leave her to it, she will only accuse you and being a bully or jealous of her childs ability...if others have noticed leave her to carry on making a show of herself as she may actully believe what she says...some people do you know ?

I'd probably have blurted out 'Wow that was quick! I know she was in year one at the end of last week!!!'.
People like that do themselves and their children no favours by lying so blatantly.

I knew a woman like that Muffy. She would tell blatant lies about her children that we could prove were wrong. We just left her to it. Nothing she said caused any harm and most people knew she was lying. I do remember talking about it with friends and we agreed that it was like an illness in that we felt she couldn't help herself. We also felt that it was a way to cover up some very real family problems she was having with two of her children.

Leave em to it - normally everyone can see it happening even if they are in denial ..........

A liar always trips themselves up in the end - tis just a matter of time.

If you're gonna be a liar, you gotta be good lol

I said nothing Robin. Just nodded and smiled and then walked away thinking what a sad woman she was ! xx

SallyF

SallyF Report 21 Feb 2009 20:42

I think it is best to leave them to it but I always find it hard to bite my tongue quick enough before something comes out to try and get them to admit they're wrong!

May be she is very lonely Muffy that she has to make these lies up, or just for attention..

Muffyxx

Muffyxx Report 21 Feb 2009 20:44

She's done it soooo many times before......like Hayley says I think she tells the lie and then believes it's the truth......if that makes sense.

You'd think her close friends would have a word though wouldn't you? xx

Muffyxx Report 21 Feb 2009 20:44

The irony is Alice her little girl is a little sweetheart !!!

Why on earth she feels she needs to big her up with lies I don't know.

She's lovely as she is xx

McAnne. You said exactly what I would've said.

Give her enough rope and she'll hang herself!

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 21 Feb 2009 20:47

She's probably not doing it for her daughter, Muffy. It's all about her and her low self esteem.

Whirley Report 21 Feb 2009 20:49

Muffy, her "friends" are probably not true friends and more than likely laugh at her behind her back...

some people just can't be helped. Leave her to it I say!
