Got my 15 year old Niece up to stay......last time she was up she was at a difficult age and barely spoke more than a syllable at a time lol.

What a difference this time !!! Just sat with her for about an hour showing her pics of ancestors and showing her who was who etc........she's absolutely fascinated by it.

Let her play on ancestry to find her birth and muck about a bit.........

I'm thrilled to bits.......there's no knowing if my girls will be interested when they're older.........so at least I know my work will end up with at least one grateful recipient.

She wants to have a go at doing it herself which I think is fab.......but she can always have aunty help her if she needs it !!! She was gobsmacked that she now knows the name of her 8x G Grandfather on one line lol .........Can't believe how chuffed I am !!! xx

Its a ploy as soon as you turn your back she will be stright on to Bebo and FB.....its so she can use your lappy...lol

Yeah I really am.......Thrilled to know that someone will take an interest and it's not all going to be left ignored when I'm gone......makes all the hours spent going through BMDs more worthwhile xx

PMSL.......no she brought her own laptop up LOLOLOL.

She's great company though........we've had a ball singing on the xbox lips...........none of my lot will sing with me........but my niece belts em out tunelessly same as me quite happily lol xx

Yep..........she's staying at her Nan and Grandads most of the time .......I get her for a few hours a day.......but she's great.........really good fun

Muffy, even if the interest is short-lived for now, you've planted a seed. It's something she will come back to in time, especially once she has a family of her own around her. Well done.

I did the same with my nephew ..found he was fun to have around. Enjoy while you can. They all grow up !!

One of my daughters loves everything to do with our tree....................the others yawn loudly and give me the blank look if I mention it *sighs*

They brightened up when I found an ancestor in prison though:))

I have a great relationship with my nieces and nephew and like to keep in touch with them....................and yes they grow up all too fast.

Absolutely TW. I can't see her having the time or the patience to do too much trawling about just at the mo.......I know I wouldn't have been able to at that age !!!

Aw Kitty at least you have one interested lol. My eldest is my best hope out of my two........she spotted a gravestone with the same surname as one of my ancestors on it during a school trip and got quite excited..........so I live in hope !!! xx

Out of 2 neptunes and ! niece there is only the 1 that I am in contact with but I hope he will enjoy the work I've done.

My niece will be 14 later this year and she is fab company :O)

She got my Wii Fit up and running for me last time she stayed *hmmm must dig that out again lol*

And the first time we ever went shopping she said after 'i didn't realise you liked shopping so much' lol

I'm so proud of her cos she's coped so well with losing her Mum (2 years this month) but I know she misses adult female company .............

Oh and she does have a slight interest in the family tree now - for obvious reasons - so it was nice to show her some bits and help her when her history homework was to do their family tree :O)))))
