Please send positive thoughts and prayers for our Lollypop man who was knocked down by a car whilst on duty. He is in the Western General in Edinburgh with serious head injuries and is on life-support.

Update - see below
Please also remember the poor children at the scene who have been traumatised by seeing their 'pal' lying bleeding in the road.

My brother has a catastrophic head injury, I am so so praying for the lollipop man, his family, friends, the children who witnessed this, praying that they will be given Counselling.

In my thoughts and prayers, leaving too Footsteps in the Sand prayer ... it so so helped me and my family, truly it did.

There is an organisation called Headway, no-one told us, they are marvelous, can give so much help and support to a family.

One night a man had a dream. He dreamed
he was walking along the beach with the LORD.

Across the sky flashed scenes from his life.
For each scene he noticed two sets of
footprints in the sand: one belonging
to him, and the other to the LORD.

When the last scene of his life flashed before him,
he looked back at the footprints in the sand.

He noticed that many times along the path of
his life there was only one set of footprints.

He also noticed that it happened at the very
lowest and saddest times in his life.

This really bothered him and he
questioned the LORD about it:

"LORD, you said that once I decided to follow
you, you'd walk with me all the way.
But I have noticed that during the most
troublesome times in my life,
there is only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why when
I needed you most you would leave me."

The LORD replied:
"My son, my precious child,
I love you and I would never leave you.
During your times of trial and suffering,
when you see only one set of footprints,
it was then that I carried you."

That poor man, and poor children. they are so dedicated these people, so poorly paid for a dangerous job too. My thoughts are with him and his family and all the children. I hope the driver was arrested at the scene.

Really awful, the poor man. I pray for his recovery and for the little children. A ray of hope here. I was knocked down age 16 in the 70s, was unconcious 2 wk with serious head injurys. I was named the walking miracle by the nurses . I am left with a deaf ear ,loss of smell an taste an short term memory loss. But I made it ,so my sincere thoughts go to him in the hope he pulls through to.

My thoughts are with him, his family and the children. My Mum has been a lollipop lady since I was 9 (I'm 45 this year) and it is my worst nightmare that something should happen to her.

How awful, I do hope the lollipop man comes though this and the children can be counselled to cope with the scene they witnessed. Hopefully all will be well but those children will have learned to be better drivers when they get to that age I expect.

Let the idiot car driver be handed over to the parents of the children, it could have been their youngsters lying in the road too.

This poor man is still critical in hospital. The Police are appealing for 'adult' witnesses to contact them.

The crossing is presently unmanned.

Hoping for a positive outcome for all concerned.

Poor poor man, doing such a vital job too. Could have been the children if he had not been there. I pray for his recovery and the minds of those little ones.

Grabagran Report 21 Feb 2009 01:16

Hope this poor man pulls through and the kids are given counselling.

The Western General is the best hospital for neurology and he is in the best possible place. I know someone who was treated in the same department after shooting himself in the head twice. He is still alive, although a bit 'slow'.

Will pray for the poor soul.
