I've always had a credit card (but only ever 1!) and I do use it, but like Ann, pay it off every month. When I was younger and single I did run up a debt, but it was never unmanageable and I paid it off as soon as I could. I find it useful, espeically for internet orders, and your purchases are also protected by the credit company's terms.

Oh I have had a club, still have but I am very careful and always pay back more than necessary, if I stay in advance I have the chance to take a month or two off if something crops up.
I'm clear now but I never know when I may need to use it again... never say NEVER.

I got a shock the other month, having moved over here and paying cards off at home with payment protection, found out that payment protection not valid as moved out of country!!!!! Only been paying it for last 18 months needlessly Argggggggh.

we use a credit card but always pay by the end of the month,banks not getting any more lol also a debit card ( very useful at the moment to pay for 1911) ;O)..........we're always canny with money! but will miss the cheques when they're fazed out,handy for presents etc.

Enjoy your Baileys, over here its about £6 a shot at the Hilton.

One good thing about the current exchange rate is I can send more money home ;-))))) was about AED 7.7 to the pound this time last year, now about AED 5.1
