so sorry to hear of your loss
and your brave standing up to speak,

try writing down something of your dads life, with you, from when you were small, all the things you did,
it dont have to be poetry or rhyme,
just something that tells of the man

I have nudged the thread again and so did someone else earlier so hope you see it Immy, you will need tissues to hand as some beautiful but sad verses there .

It's always harder when you have to wait a while for the funeral to take place, but gives you time to sort things out nicely without feeling rushed and time to say goodbye at the Chapel of Rest if you want to.

Wishing you strength to get through Immy,

Lizx

Letter from Heaven
To my dearest family some things I'd like to say
But first of all to let you know that I arrived today,
I'm writing this from Heaven. Here I shall dwell with God above
Here, there's no more tears of sadness. Here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight
Remember that I am with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through
God picked me up and hugged me and He said "I welcome you,
It's good to have you back again,
you were missed while you were gone,
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly, you are part of my plan
There's so much that we have to do to help our mortal man."
God gave me a fist of things that he wished for me to do
And foremost on the list was to watch and care for you
And when you lie in bed at night, the days chores put to flight
God and I are closest to you . . in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth and all those loving years
Because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears
But do not be afraid to cry, it does relieve the pain
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
1 wish that I could tell you all that God has planned
If I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand
But one thing is for certain though my life on earth is o'er
I'm closer to you now than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb
But together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
When you're walking down the street and you've got me on your mind
I'm walking in your footsteps, only half a step behind
And when it's time for you to go . . from that body to be free
Remember you're not going . . you're just coming here to me.

We read this at a relatives funeral and it always brings comfort

Many thanks again to you all for your kindness.
Have looked for the "remember me" thread, but can't find it Liz, so if you could nudge it for me, that would be great.
Funeral can't take place until February 9th because Crem is fully booked until then, so I have plenty of time to sort out verses etc.
Love to all,
Immy X

My deepest sympathy to you and your family on your sad loss of your dear Dad, I can empathise, as it will be 19 years on the 23rd of this month that my Dad lost his battle with lung cancer and left us all, aged 79. No one ever understands the feeling till it happens to them, but I couldn't wish him back to suffer so had to accept it was for the best for my Dad.

I will nudge up the Remember Me thread as there are some beautiful verses on there.
Will be thinking about you,
Lizx

Dear immy

I said these words as I scattered my adored, adorable Mum's ashes......

"May the winds of love blow softly
And whisper for you to hear
How much we love and miss you
And wish that you were here.
Take her in your arms, Lord,
Don 't leave her on her own,
Today we miss her so much
Her first away from home."

Hope this helps...............

Love & cuddles

So very sorry to hear this sad news. I lost my darling dad 3 years ago now and I think about him all the time.

Dont know if its any use to you - but if your dad was in the services you can ask for his coffin to be draped with the Union flag. We had this done as we knew dad would have liked it.

Dad
by Judy Burnette
Dad...so many images come to mind
whenever I speak your name;
It seems without you in my life
things have never been the same.

What happened to those lazy days
when I was just a child;
When my life was consumed in you
in your love, and in your smile.

What happened to all those times
when I always looked to you;
No matter what happened in my life
you could make my gray skies blue.

Dad, some days I hear your voice
and turn to see your face;
Yet in my turning...it seems
the sound has been erased.

Dad, who will I turn to for answers
when life does not make sense;
Who will be there to hold me close
when the pieces just don't fit.

Oh, Dad, if I could turn back time
and once more hear your voice;
I'd tell you that out of all the dads
you would still be my choice.

Please always know I love you
and no one can take your place;
Years may come and go
but your memory will never be erased.

Today, Jesus, as You are listening
in your home above;
Would you go and find my dad
and give him all my love.

SO SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS PRAYERS FOR YOU AND YOUR FAMILY X
