Have I missed something? What is the £60 for? We had our winter fuel payment of £250 in the bank in December, is there something else we should have claimed for?

Yes Ann the visitors arrived last week and have settled in complete with an infrared heater although Keith was sun bathing on the terrace this morning. I on the other hand am freezing

Do you mean they brought the heater with them Wendy?

Sue, if you got the one payment you should automatically get the other I think, it is an extra.

No Ann...we provide the heater or a fan ...the choice is yours or you can have both if you like

Thanks Ann.

I'll have to check the bank statement tomorrow. We had £250 plus £10 Christmas bonus, which is £50 more than last year, making the total £260. Is that what everyone gets or do you mean there is another £60 on top of this?

here's hoping we are more in need of the fan than the heater. what is May weather up there usually like. we were down South last April and the weather was mixed. I am sure it will still seem warm to us though, and we did experience the heaviest rain when you were away Lol!!!

Ann... May can be beautiful but just lately nothing seems to be as you expect it to be. Two years ago was the best October on record, last October was the wettest in 28 years but it did all fall in 10 days. Are you now going off the October idea!! You just can't tell

No, not gone off October as you say you just can't tell. Like the Euro the weather is unpredictable!! September was good though!

The £60 is ten weeks worth of the £6 increase coming in April I think.
My surname starts with a W so always close to the end of the list!

The £60 is an addition to the £10 Christmas Bonus (but only a one off payment). It has been explained in all the national papers, it is not the increase in pension which will be paid in April. They had to put out an advertisement in the press because it had not been explained clearly.

The cold weather payment which has been increased to £25 is payable only to people who claim Pension Credits or other benefits not to all pensioners. It is also payable to claimants of DLA, or Carers allowance. This is payable if the temperature drops to 0 degrees for 7 consecutive days. I think it said this is the first time it will be paid for 4 years.

My wife's is in today (I don't qualify yet).

I have had my extra £60 in today.

I think when it was first mentioned it was suggested the £60 was the 'pay rise' early but I did think it didn't add up as there are more than ten weeks to the April? pension increases.

Marion I would ask for an explanation re the winter fuel element. The £60 was for jan/Feb so that isn't late but winter fuel is supposed to be before Christmas.

OH is still waiting for his pension to go in, he only qualified couple of weeks ago!! He said, but there is £250 in, yes I said, that is to buy firewood with!! And yes it does get cold here as well, but don't have a fire every night. Not sure he will get the £60 though.
