Hayley,my parents had that album too,(South Pacific), I grew up on all that type of music.I will never forget that beautiful blonde actress singing "I'm
Gonna Wash That Man Right Out of My Hair" (and send him on his way..)
in the film "South Pacific".She was sort of Doris Day -ish,cute,blonde and
girl next door-ish.Does anyone know who she was?
Salad Days was another one,not as well known as South Pacific.Ah,they
were the good old days...I'm not really big on musicals either,it always seems pretty weird when a character just bursts into song, but there was something really special about the old -time musicals like "Paint Your
Wagon" (They Call the Wind Moriah, Old Man River) etc. They made your spine tingle with the sheer power of the music and the lyrics. No doubt there are many, many more, but those ones stand out for me! Does anyone remember any others??

First song my mother heard just after giving birth to me one bright Friday morning in July '47, was Oh What a beautiful morning, from Oklahoma!
I too heard all those songs in my younger days.

'Unchained Melody', not from a musical and not Robson and Jerome version, but our next door neighbour used to sing it incessantly when she was alone in the house lol Drove my mother nuts but when R and J brought it out, it reminded Mum of her long gone neighbour.
