I have bought a little puppy and he will not stay on his own in the nights. The only place that is safe to leave him is the kitchen because of the possibility he will chew elecric wires etc. |

Also, I assume the puppy has some toys to snuggle up to? Poor little soul, he is missing his siblings and his mummy. You could try a warm hot water bottle under the blanket as well as long as he wont chew that! |

Mine have always slept in the bedroom with us but in their baskets. Leaving a radio on sounds like a good idea. |

I would look at getting a dog crate. They are not cruel far from it - my sisters two labs are fully grown and still have their crates (open at all times now) and at bed time off they trot with their blankets to their crates, to them its there safe space so to speak. |

Try putting a clock under the blankets ( to the side ) one which makes a noise, it reminds them of heart beats, along with a hot water bottle |

Have to agree with Maddie. My sister's terrier was used to a cage in her room and had all sorts hidden in "her" space. She has since been promoted to the bed since the labby passed away. In fact when we went on holiday she even had a babies travel cot and was happy as larry in one of those. As Maddie says it also contains any mess. |

You could try leaving it in a room for a few minutes, aslong as it is quiete give it a treat, and make a fuss of him, then leave abit longer, say 15 mins and give another treat, etc etc.The most important thing is that the pup knows who is boss, if my dogs anything to go by........he's the boss!!! lol |

Alyson.........if you definitely want the pup to sleep downstairs on his own then that is what he has got to get used to. You have to ignore his howling etc and he will give up and go to sleep ( eventually ). |

My daughters dog had 2 pups 7 weeks ago.Mum used to lay on the sofa and both babes were in a crate. They created merry hell and kept my daughter awake.Mum lost all interest in them after 4 weeks. In the end they must have drove mum mad as she would get off the sofa and get them both out of the cage and climb back on the settee lol.One has now been rehomed but still has the other one that she now takes to bed. annie |

When my puppy was feeling lost and alone I put an old dressing gown (or anything you have really) which had MY scent on it into his bed. |
