He's the spirit of Christmas.

Fortunately what with the various time zones plus different denominations celebrating Christmas on different dates he's not quite so rushed as would first appear. Then there are some countries which get their presents earlier in December and in Russia he is called Grandfather Frost and delivers on New Year's Eve. So that helps too.

This is how I explained it to my kids LOL.

Then taking into account quantum mechanics where they seem to reckon things can be in more than one place at once (or something like that) that sorts out the slightly older and more sceptical.
