Perhaps not quite the same as this debate.I worked not so long ago with a man that had a sex change.All organs changed as well.He had 3 children before his sex change.This bloke suffered hell having all his operations.He changed his name as well and we called her Billie and her mans name was Bill.I have never worked with such a nice person as Billie.Always up for a laugh always treated us with sweets always there if we had a problem.Then his son aged 18 started working with us.We asked him how he felt about his dad becoming a woman.He said he did not mind as he was still the biggest part of his life and knew she was always going to be there for him his brother and his sister.I think his children were also very remarkable and had,had a good upbringing. Who really cares? As long as the parents love and nurture the kids I can't see that it really matters.

He's not yet physically a man so I think it's a big hooey over nothing and I'm not keen on the way it's being played out in the media but then the parents of the Walton sextuplets did the same and the girls all seem to have grown up well balanced.

Kids are indeed cruel but it's often learnt behaviour - perhaps if adults tell children that it's uneccessarily unkind and judgemental to call people disgusting and freaks because they live different lifestyles to us they might learn differently.

It's not so very long ago that mixed race relationships and children received the same sort of reactions.

I think there seems to be an element of attention seeking with this particular individual. When I heard reports of the first pregnancy, I thought how can he have been declared legally male when there were still female reproductive organs. I thought in order to get that 'certificate' they had to get rid of the organs from the original gender.

I have nothing against transgender people having children. And I agree that it is natural as a human being to want to have a child, whether male or female, though one would think it is a female trait to want to carry that child themself. I imagine they saw it as their way of having biological children but if that was the case, should have had the children before undergoing gender reassignment. I agree that this hurts those people who feel trapped by their body as most female to male transexuals would be horrified by doing something like that and would rather have the female organs gone. Indeed many are traumatised by having periods.

oh I do so hate to bring a little levity to a serious debate but with reference to

I have been to Tesco's this week ...and seen any number of men who could by their girth have been 7/8 months pregnant...ditto a lot of the women (like myself ) who carry a 'bump' though not pregnant... I wouldn't have noticed if a man actually was carrying a baby!

As long as the child is loved, and is happy...doesn't matter...

btw did you see the tv ad for water-aid... a child dies every 19 seconds because of the lack of clean water to drink.... I find that infinitely more worrying with regard to the state of 'humanity' .... than what 'bits' a man has.....

LOL Rose, I too have seen such men. One in particular, we saw one that looked about to give birth, we felt bad muttering about him after, when there was a thing in the paper about how said man had found out he had a tumour the size of a football. I can't help but wonder how you would let it get to that stage.

I think Rose has the best point about this. And the end of her post is the most truthful bit I've read on here.

there are thousands of couples holding back having kids because of money......he/she will just sell his/her story every time!!!
are we really bothered? or are we just fasinated by the freak element of it?...
lets face it....born a woman........wants to be a man...BUT...not enough to get rid of her ovaries...or womb......

far too much other stuff to concern us......like kids being born to whoever....and dying for the want of food....medicine, water...and LOVE

Better he has the children he and his wife want and will love and care for, than have people bear children and then subject or allow them to be subjected to abuse and torture.

Who is to say that one of this man/woman's children won't grow up to do wonderful things in the world, and without this happening, we wouldn't have them around to do that.
