Jen you got it lol

let the numbers be a,b,c,d, and e (1st, 2nd, 3rd , 4th, and 5th)
we'll have these equations:

e+c = 14

d = b+1

a = 2b-1

b+c = 10

a+b+c+d+e = 30

e+c = 14 therefore, e = 14 -c
b + c = 10 therefore c = 10 - b
we replace c with its value in the 1st equation so:
e = 14 -10 +b = 4 + b

we use now this equation :
a+b+c+d+e = 30 and replace every number with with its value (with b)
so we'll have:

(2b-1) + b + (10 - b) + (b+1) + (4 + b) = 30
4b + 14 = 30
4b = 16 so b = 16/4= 4
therefore, a = 7 , b =4, c =6, d =5, e = 8

so the code is 7 4 6 5 8

Thanks Janice, I should have read all of the notes first before I put my big foot in it.
I thought I had been ever so clever working it out on only one piece of paper as well, lol
