to cut a long story short

.....night before last on chat there was a thread posted by 'Margaret' sounding terribly depressed...many of us read an underlying threat of suicide... lots of people stayed talking to her and also tried to contact GR to try and make sure she was 'safe'... then , apparently, her SIL turned up at the house saw the mesages and got Margaret medical help.....

we all took it in good faith, despite a few suspicions, felt it was better to believe her than risk ignoring someone in real distress...

same Margaret has just posted (and deleted) asking for a recipe!

seems like we were all 'had'...and I think it is such a wicked shame that someone was prepared to do that, to worry so many people...and what is MUCH worse maybe make us wary in responding to someone in Genuine distress.......

I must be very cynical because I felt suspicious from the start. It is a shame because people will be more cautious in future. I would have been more believing if the sister in law hadn't conveniently turned up.

We may have been had, but I still think we did the right thing, if it was a cruel joke then it was wrongof the post to do this.
But I still applaud all those who helped out, and I for one would still do that again.
There are a lot of people on this site with real problems, and I would hate to see people have to be wary of helping in the Future.

What you did Rose was totally right, and I applaud you for that :O)

That is awful Rose, when I felt really down earlier this year my mates on the Friendly thread were really there for me and I managed to get through because of them. I would have been lost without them.
Just think if they had been really cautious and not been there for me, well I dread to think how I would have felt.
Some people are so horrid.

We are here to chat if it helps but please dont drop in then delete after putting people through any ordeal like the other night it is unfair to them and distressing to some who really do have problems . If you are depressed we are happy to chat to you about it ....
