I have this friend on the Internet ( about 2-3 years) but I think she has lost the plot.
I replied to an E-mail of hers - she asked how we were- and told her my husband had shingles. Her reply was " do not contact me until it has cleared up, as shingles are a virus and I cannot afford to have my computer infected".
Well I though it was a joke so replied accordingly.

She then phoned me and was angry said I told you not to E-mail me I don't want a virus. I explained to her that a medical virus would not infect her computer and it was a different sort of virus. Actually I explained at great length. She then told me I did not know what I was talking about and said she was going to put the phone down on me. I said are you having a joke with me ahe got furious and said she was deadly serious and I had no consideration. This is someone who works using a computer. She just would not listen and has now said do not bother to contact her again at any time in the future. I've told OH what has happened ad said I'm not bothered in that case now he thinks I'm being unreasonable. Before I go mad (well madder) is it me at fault.

Pat with apologies for being long winded.
God I need a pain killer or valium or something.

I thought she was having a laugh. Like if I had put a thread on here saying my husband has shingles and one of you bright sparks would have replied, don't bring it on here then add LOL.

I am not sure how you are being unreasonable Pat, i thought you were very patient. i can't believe that your 'friend' really believed that if she works with computers. Sounds as if she is a word processing typist or something and not very knowledgeable.

By the way, did she ask how your OH is? Hope he is OK shingles is very painful.

Marion no she is dead serious. I told her to ask someone who knows about computers and they would tell her she couldn't get a computer virus from shingles but she says I don't know what I'm talking about.
Granted I don't know much but I do know that.

There, you should be all zapped and sterile now!!

Seriously... I too would have thought she was joking!!

I certainly don't think you are being unreasonable.... have you done a disk clean/defrag on hubby? Sounds like he could do with it, lol.

Bless him, shingles is horrible... I do hope he feels better soon.

I hope he soon gets over it ;))

Unfortunately there are ,many people who work all day on a computer - and still now nothing about them and how they work. Probably just think of them as a glorified typewriter.

omg! sorry I don't mean to laugh Pat but that is just soooo funny lol

I hope she has the good grace to come back and apologise to you - once her workmates stop laughing long enough to explain it to her! ;-))))

Can I ask please Pat - in the last 2-3 years is this the first indication that your friend has given that she may not be too bright?

A fellow walked into a doctor’s office and the receptionist asked him what he had.
He said, “Shingles.”
So she took down his name, address, medical insurance number and told him to have a seat.
A few minutes later a nurse’s aid came out and asked him what he had.
He said, “Shingles.”
So she took down his height, weight, a complete medical history and told him to wait in the examining room.
Ten minutes later a nurse came in and asked him what he had.
He said, “Shingles.”
So she gave him a blood test, a blood pressure test, an electrocardiogram, told him to take off all his clothes and wait for the doctor.
Fifteen minutes later the doctor came in and asked him what he had.
He said, “Shingles.”
The doctor said, “Where?”
He said, “Outside in the truck. Where do you want them?”
