Have just returned yesterday from a week in Wales and it was sunny. Cottage was very well equipped and was 200 yds from beach so was able to walk there OK and had a few paddles. We have been on a fish/shellfish diet for a week. Magic.

It was lovely Taff - only moved out of the village twice during the week - once was to go to St. David's the cathedral was lovely but can you tell me why the floor slopes - has it subsided over the years? The other we went to Dale and could not get anything to eat! OH is even talking of going back next year for 2 weeks possibly early June so I can see the puffins and he can see the dolphins. The 5 hr drive was worth it!! Only thing miffed me was missing last episode of Secret Millionaire - Channel 4 was mainly Welsh speaking!

Hi Chris
Glad it was sunny in Wales for you, I am off on holiday there soon.

Interested to hear about Dale- will be staying at The Old Lighthouse, St. Annes Head, Nr Dale!

Good job we go self catering then lol although we will no doubt be going to Haverfordwest for retail therapy!

Tina - only place open to eat (if you are lucky) is the pub - we went in at 1.45 and told they had stopped serving lunches - there were 3 other couples looking for food as well! So if you want lunch - go early!!!! Solva - The Print Shop - wonderful crab salad and Cawl and OH fell in love with welsh cakes fresh off the griddle - stuffed his face with them rest of week and have instructions to find recipe and make them! Haverfordwest - ignored it do not like shopping prefer to paddle and feed seagulls!

Chris glad you had a good time and the weather was kind to you.

The floor in St Davids does slope around 4 metres from one side to the other and is due to subsidence, there is an ongoing restoration appeal for repairing it.

Taff Report 27 Sep 2008 10:53

I love Wales. I was there at the beginning of the month, but not so far west.

We were luckier when we were searching for food and arrived at a pub. They didn't cook meals on Monday evenings, but must have taken pity on OH myself and grandson. They ushered us into the quieter lounge area, switched on the cookers and made us all the meal of our choice.
What service !

We did enjoy it Claire - cannot wait to tell all those friends who asked 'why are you going to Wales'. It was a litle bit of heaven. Decided about 10 years ago I had had enough of airports, the hassle do not want to know.

LOL Claire - have found out there is a farmers market every two weeks on a Friday at Haverfordwest- dont suppose you know when the last one was so I can work out if it will be there for us to nosey around?

Enjoy your beers!

If nobody has never visited and stayed in Wales they dont know what they are missing its a lovely place. Wouldn't mind retiring to Wales to be honest. xx

I love Wales too.My partner is very tall but can get suits at the retail outlet near Bridgend. He needed one for an interview recently so we popped to Wales, from Sussex,to get.

We usually like to go up to the other shopping village in Ebbw Vale and get a bit of the valleys while we are there but it was so wet that day that we came straight back home.

So I was quite surprised to see Sunny Wales!

Yesterday they had a Farmers Harvest Market with jazz etc - OH said he wanted to get home - however we did stop at a farm shop in the Brecons and stocked up with goodies including welsh lamb.
