Haley, stand back for a minute, look at your daughter, is she sensible, is she mature for her age, what are her friends like, if you feel comfortable about her and her mates, let her go, if not then be the cruel mum, I would be a cruel mum if I didn't feel comfy about it, but get her dad to pick her up maybe with a couple of her mates.x

hehehe Heather it's Linkin Park (couldn't help but correct sorry) and I must admit to liking them :-) but doubt I could handle seeing them live (all those rockers/moshers in one place)

Had this worry with my son aged barely 17, over the summer. He wanted to go to see Lincoln Park (no it's not a place) in Milton Keynes. Bearing in mind that we live in the centre of Ireland, me and OH said no............When he thought about it he couldn't afford it, plane/boat tickets, train tickets, accomodation, food and an adult to go with him.
Thank God .........they came to Dublin and he went and whats more, because he is a member of the fan club, he got picked to met the band.
We had to delay our holidays for this gig but he was so excited and said it was the best day of his life.
This is what memories are made of. I'm so glad that your daughter can go to the gig. It's all about compromise.......no need to stomp and pout...........lol

I agree you have to trust them sometime but 15 is in my opinion too young.
Shes a kid,of course she is going to flounce and try and have her own way,thats her job but just as equally its our job as parents to see they are alright.
Have you ever seen a bunch of stoned or drunk 15 year olds.
They are so brave and full of their own ability to conquer the world but actually they dont have the thought capacity just yet(before anyone squeals this is actually a researched fact)
just ask anyone that works in an accident facility on a friday or sat night,they very quickly turn back into the young and vulnerable young people that they are.
I most definitly would pick her up at the very least

Parents worry about children, not just these days, but in all ages. Some things never change.

I think I would be hesitant. Speak to a couple of her close friends and insist that they "stay together" the whole time...even if it means going to the loo together. And remind her never to let her drink out of her sight or accept a drink from someone she don't know.

Give her the info to keep herself safe and then as you've said, trust her to look after herself and her close friends.

Will let you know - she's been to the Academy several times, all has been OK, it's the transport home tsituation that has been the imost important thing

PS Hayley, didn't do a proper sentence/explanation there 'cause I got a headache, only mentioned my daughter's birthday 'cause she's off to Blackpool the day before her 18th to see the Mighty Boosh. Tickets in Manchester were sold out in minutes

my daughter is 18 on the 18th October - will ask her this weekend (she's out right now) what gigs she's going to.

I nearly got into see the Kooks at the Academy when I was doing the chauffeure thing, with the added bonus of haggling with ticket touts on Oxford Road

its on Oct 20th ermmmm...let me think its at the Uni bar...

I felt exactly the same when my daughter started going to gigs in Manchester, but she was with a good group of friends, and I had all their mobile numbers.

What gig is it? My daughter may be going to the same one - they could meet up - and talk about their mothers!
