Thanks to you both, Beff & Havoc. Both your tips should prove useful in the future, but sadly, not in my daughter's case...

You have to rinse the lining in Softener and also rinse your tights/stockings, it does work

Liz, I have not heard any little cries or gasps when spraying furniture with hair spray, strangely enough.I often wondered where the little blighters went to, you don't see hundreds of tiny corpses...

Hi Eileen, I didn't know that tip about woodworm, does it stick them to the holes so they die choking and gasping lol

Taff, much though I love my daughter, I have to say she is too impatient to wait and see, so cut the lining out.Dee's solution still makes me laugh.I use hair spray to get rid of wood worm in furniture. It works a treat.

Either that or out of a Shotgun Cartridge,**M**.

Merlin, what is lead shot? Do you mean the lead they use in the hems of curtains?

Merlin

Merlin Report 6 Oct 2008 15:04

With the size of some of the skirts worn by todays girls, its a wonder there,s any room to have a lining, but small lead shot should do the trick.**M**.:o))>

coins in the hem? reminds me of the tricks that young ladies got up to in the jiving days.........with the layers of petticoats.......to make them fly out, some used small fishing weights......

Some people use hand cream on the legs to stop the clinging. Of course it has to be rubbed in otherwise the material will stick to the cream!

Morning all.
Thank you for all the replies and advice.
No, my daughter never wears tights, even when it's freezing, nor would she use hair laquer.By the way, do you spray the legs or skirt lining Minnie?Haven't heard of anti-stat stuff before.I will see her later on, bet she has already cut the lining out.Has always been rather impetuous, bless her.

I was going to blame the tights too. Maybe rinse them in anti-stat fabric or hair conditioner?

Isn't the problem caused by nylon tights and knickers?

Yes I was going to say that too Maz.
I used to do that to skirts and curtains.
They are not actually coins, they are small round metal discs, and will keep the skirt from blowing up, and keep you looking well groomed.
The tip about stitching to the seams seems a good idea.
What I used to do, was when taking the hem up... after hanging it to drop, Add the lining to the skirt.... be very careful not to stitch right through the material.... tiny threads at a time.
Don't remove the lining... skirts look so tailored with them.
Good luck. The anti static rinse was an idea too.

Is this for real Taff? I have some pleasant 'forget me not' talc, but don't think my daugher will like using that, as she has fairly sweet & strong stuff. Thanks anyway. Will tell her about the anchoring strings, maybe just to see the expression on her face...lol.All good ideas, but not for the 'impatient' among us.
