The reason there is a slash across it is to differentiate between an 0 (zero) and an O (capital letter o) |

Hubby always puts a slash through the number 0.. He was trained to use that by the military..... also a little line at the base of a 6.... to show that it is a 6 and can't be turned upside down and confused with a 9, lol |

There are two greek letters that are O with a line either vertically or horizontally through them. They're not Omega though. |
