I have drawers under the spare bed and I keep one of them for pressies.

I buy little bits when I see them and sometimes get little kiddy stuff for the tiddlers next door. I've managed great presents for very reasonable money. I can sometimes grab things on sale for only 3 or 4 pounds which look a lot more expensive.

These people http://www.russimco.com/ are not far from me and they've sold stuff for incredibly low prices at village fetes. They usually have a Christmas sale at their headquarters.

I always found little girls easier to buy for. Stuff like smellies and hair bobble sets can usually be rounded up in various shades of pink and packaged up in a pressie bag to make a nice present for them.

Phew, glad you all think the same as me then, wondered if I was turning into a meanie lol

I think if you spend a lot it puts pressure on the family to spend a lot back for your children too and then it gets into a vicious circle of spending.

£20 seems a lot for a non-family pressie. The most I spend is £5 -7.50. BUT have you looked in a Woolies lately? They have quite a range of dressing up clothes, especially Princessy pink type stuff.

Just wondering what sort of friend is this?
Is it someone in their class?
If so £20 is way too much & I would be surprised if you would be expected to spend that much!

£20 is far too much, you should be looking at spending between £5 & £10

Child's jewellery box
A watch with hands & numbers
Bracelet or pendant from Argos
Brazt
High School Musical stuff

Another thing to remember is, it will probably be the first of many parties. £20 at every one ???

Matalan have quite a few 3 for 2 thing's too, you coud always buy 3 things and put away for the next paty or xmas pressie.

Better off buying from somewhere like Wilkinson for cheaper toys.

There is a girly version of lego but the only place I saw it was at Toys Rus

Like others have said, think £20 is too much, I only spend that on family

£20 seems a lot to spend on a gift to take to a birthday party.

I'd go into somewhere like The Works or similar shop and buy an arty crafty set too. There's loads in there for just a few pounds and some of it comes in nice presentation boxes.

In my area we have several shops which sell packets of things to do crafts. I buy selections for my Girl Guides and with £20 I could amuse loads of kids.

Lol Janey.. my two year old bubba granddaughter (princess Thugette, lol) is coming to stay next week... I have an old flipchart board from my tutoring days.... and a couple of flipcharts... and a very big conservatory... we will be doing hand and foot pictures, splash art, block prints, smudge stuff... I have sequins and sparkly bits by the bucketful... and a little paddling pool to chuck her straight into at the end of play, lol She was 2 in June!!

Start them early on the art and crafts..... lol I still have the stuff I made with my two sons when they were small.... great fun!

Bratz dolls or accessories.
Stuffed Toys (puppies seem to be popular)
Princess/dress up outfit
Pretty Hair things
Little bags
As Marion says, Claire's is great for little girl things.

Of course, she could be like my niece and like playing with her brother's lego and cars :)

£20..Oh,my!! lol

A lot of parents think nothing of spending £10 per head for the party and invite all the class.
Mine a had a home made birthday cake and a couple of friends for tea.

Claires accessories have lots of wee girlie things.
What about a pink purse with some money in it.

Maybe she'd like a pretty watch.
An analogue face would be a good idea because she'll learn to tell the time soon.
