Malc /GG and Jackie Report 5 Sep 2008 22:11

We had our wedding photos on Malcs laptop ready to get printed and someone sent him an e-mail which had a virus. He has had to do a total destruct on his laptop and we have lost all our pictures. We couldn't do a back up first as it would have also copied the virus.

Why do people put viruses onto the system? We are gutted.

A couple on Facebook but we had about 170 on the laptop - some where on a disc that my daughter had but it has been copied over by mistake!!

The company who sent the e-mail are called Greeting Cards UK and it claims they are sending an e-card, so if anyone gets one of these - dont open it.

Have you spoken with a data retrieval company? It's always worth asking..

Sorry to hear about your photos.

I keep getting emails from Greetingcard.org. They're dodgy too. If you google their website it gives you more information.

Can you nopt go into history and restore things to the day before the virus, worked magic for me XX..

As Sue says, don't give up hope, there may be some way of retrieving your photos.

Have just looked on the greetingcard site. Their advice is not to open any email saying that it's from them unless it either has your name on it, or you recognise the sender.

Malc had to do a total destruct which basically means the laptop goes back to how it was when it was brand new. Everything was lost.

My friend deleted hers off camera by mistake in June.
She has taken her camera card in and company is trying to get her photos off the card. even though she had taken more photos on top of them.
Don't know if special company or just asda.

Hi Malc and Jackie

I had a thread on GR a couple of days ago about these e-mails, I wouldn't open them because it didn't have a name of who had sent the card..
I posted a message on GR and was told they did contain a virus and never to open anything with exe on it, this did have that on it.

So sorry you have lost all you wedding pictures, these people who send these e-mails must really have something wrong with them to do this kind of thing.

SO SORRY TO HEAR OF THIS.

IF I PUT ON HERE HOW I FELT ABOUT THESE KIND OF PEOPLE, I WOULD BE BANNED FOR LIFE.

DID ANYONE ELSE TAKE PHOTOS OF YOUR HAPPY DAY?

SINCERELY HOPE YOU CAN OBTAIN SOME FROM SOMEONE.

EARLIER THIS WEEK I KEPT GETTING A MESSAGE UP STATING IT WAS FROM AOL AND HAD EXE ON IT.

Malc
Sorry to hear about your photo's but if you take your puter into a computer repair shop, he may be able to find them on your hard drive. You can delete and you can take your puter back to orignal settings but you can never compleatly get rid of what you have put on the hard drive. Think about it the police do it all the time. Hope this helps you.

I know it may sound obvious, but its highly likely that guests at your wedding took photos

Mail all of them to ask if they have any photos can they send them via email to you. Then create a free photobox account, load them all on there...enhance them using their own tools, then send off for them via the site

i use photobox all the time & they are brilliant 7 come back beautifully packaged.
