There's always one on every site, and on here it's me.
Would someone give me chapter and verse on what to do, to view these records.
I'm getting everything but.....
Be kind to dumb animals.
Happy days

Hi

That site is brilliant as it has virtually every Durham parish BT on there with the originals and I have proven a much logical but never before theory. 20% of my ancestors were Durhamers.

My ancestor was William Stewart born in 1800 in St Helen Auckland. His father was John Stewart. Stewart is a Scottish name so I was determined to find the connection, even with such a common name.

Many Scots came to North England in the 1750s and 1760s after farming tenant disagreements. And I couldnt find any reference to John before his marriage in 1789. He was a widower.

William's December 1800 baptism says "Son Of John Stewart, skinner, a native of Selkirk, Scotland, and Patience his wife, a native of this parish". I nearly died of triumph.
