I had a laminator for my birthday and have yet to experiment with it. Has anybody got one? If so can you tell me does it seal right across the paper or does it just seal the edges?

I think it compresses the middle bit pushing out the air, and then seals the edges.

ps - that's assuming of course that the paper inside is the same size as the pouch )))
if you see what I mean.

Ann,

We have a joke in our family that no-one goes out to buy anything, until they have asked if I have a spare one Yes - I have a spare one! I didn't like to tell my brother I had bought one in Netto when he gave me one for my birthday last year!

It does seal right across - seals the plastic together, anywhere there isn't paper in between, so it is ideal for ID cards, place mats etc. Keep your eye open in Aldi/Netto for their special offers for the pouches.

Son has one for his course.
an amazing piece of kit... it seals the edges, but it looks so lovely when it is done. Dives a really professional finish to your work.
Enjoy yourself Ann... ;-0)

Ann, the one I have seals the edges, makes good luggage labels too. Look out in Wilko's as they very often have the small pouches, just the right size for a luggage label, also quite inexpensive.

I'll bring mine next time we meet Ann, and you can show me how to use, it, lolol.... my son bought me one for Christmas and I haven't got around to using it yet...

I might take it to the wedding next week, I have bought drawing stuff and bits and bobs for the youngsters to mess about with if they get bored..... I could put their names on their scribblings and turn them into place mats for them... brilliant!!

Ann,

I just noticed you said you were going to make luggage labels.

Bear in mind, your outer label should not have your address on it, just name, destination etc. (Sharp eyed people could see your home address and know that you are away for a week or two and you might come back to a nasty shock of no belongings. You should put your details inside the case, for if it goes missing.)

mine works overtime doing the nursery rhyme bags for school.

Tiddler bought home a placemat from school that they used for their snacks each day had their picture on it and meant they could wipe them clean.

Also laminated all of tiddlers words she bought home to learn so they didnt get so dog eared

lol Ann.... the girls are three, the lad is four... so I'll be using the laminator, not them.... I'm going to *magic* their drawings into something special, lolol....

DiL is having a tussle with Granddaughter (3 going on 30) as she wants to wear her Princess dress that Granny magicked........... imagine the kudos of sprinkling fairy dust onto her picture and turning it into a placemat!!

I have had a lovely day... niece didn't do her own thing after all, and supervised my own wardrobe purchases.

I now have the complete outfit for this wedding.... and some red shoes as an extra!! How very daring of me, lololol

Hi Ann,

I use mine for a lot of posters and things for work and it seals very nicely leaving a lovely gloss finish. The laminate pouches I get from a very cheap shop - costing slightly over 99p for 15 and I have no problems with them.
