My son had all the same symptoms, including loss of appetite, when he was 25 years old and lost 3 stone in 3 weeks.

In his case the colonoscopy showed he had Crohn's (an inflammatory bowel disease).

I am glad the colonoscopy was clear and hope that your brother can start to feel better, and his depression lift with the tablets.
Not the best profession for someone who is a worrier I suppose.

If the colonoscopy was clear, where is the blood coming from? Ulcers? Need to examine stomach and small bowel - barium meal and follow through. Stress is a bowel irritant so hope he chills and gets subsequent relief

I think a second opinion would be in order, despite all the tests being negative another opinion from a specialist might also reduce his anxiety.
My MIL was physically ill but because GP was treating her for bipolar disorder put it down to depression. When it was discovered it was a physical condition it was too late she died in hospital a month later. Sorry to be so blunt but I see it all the time as a nurse.

I`m a nurse too. He will probably see how he gets on , but as I said a woorrier and worrying about his job and his wife`s at the moment . He also had chest pain at the weekend , 999 to hospital tests done - nothing found , he`s also had loads of blood tests , tumour markers etc , so I think well checked out, Ros xx

Karen...I heard about a man that had lost loads of weight etc, it was a worm of some kind. an old lady he spoke to on a bus/train one day told him to eat a raw cabbage...it cured him. dont ask me why though.
Probaly find the story by googling.
