Shelli, I hope the weather is kind to you for your holiday. Some beautiful sunsets along there, I would love to move to live in the area.

I'm off camping in Somerset next week - not for the scenery, but to remove trees/ivy etc from an old smithy my brother has bought!!
Oh and we're also going to try to find the missing roof tiles!!!

Much Wenlock has a lot going for it - near to Shrewsbury and the open air museum (whose name I have forgotten!!) Iron bridge, potteries etc. Stunning scenery and fantastic architecture!

How about the west coast of Somerset?

We have a static caravan on a gorgeous site where there are spaces for tourers and tents.
There's a private beach, pool, friendly atmosphere, little pub with beer garden and play area for kids but not a big clubhouse.

Nearby there are the Quantock Hills, Exmoor and Sedgemoor. There are loads of interesting tourist attractions within reach and lots of varied scenery.

The coast has fossil beaches and rocky shores as well as sand for kids to play on.

I can let you have the website for the holiday centre if wished. There are other pleasant ones in the same area but I think the one we chose as the site of our holiday home is the nicest.

Geney Ologist,

Shelli, I was at Heacham in June, just down the road from Hunstanton, I love the area, and it's only 45 miles from Norwich.
Have a great time,

Sandy Balls Camping and Caravan Site at Godshill, The New Forest, is nice. Have Swimming Pool, also log cabins, static caravans, and you can take your own tents and caravans.

Also other lovely sites in the New Forest, run by the Forestry Commission, but these do not have Swimming Pools.

I loved the area so much when I camped there, I came here to live.

try this site for future camping trips.

www.ukcampsite.co.uk

Also if you put the name of your site in the camp site search you will find reviews made by people just like you and me...not reporters etc.

we're off to Norfolk at end of the summer hols, we're going to Hunstanton.
really useful site for campers.

Good for you, you have booked during Sheringham Carnival week, should be lots going on. The Cromer one is around the 20th August.

Is the place you are staying chalets then so you aren't camping or is there a tent area within the holiday park? I hope the weather will be nice for you all anyway.
Type in Woolly Mammoth Runton and you will get a site that tells you about Norfolk and about the remains of a Woolly Mammoth that was found at Runton cliffs not too many years back.

~~I did consider Northumberland...dont get me wrong..but my spouse said..it would be cold..and not a lot to do..(for a 12 yr old)...!..The last time..I went to Norfolk coast..was many yrs ago..as a 15yr old..in a caravan park..(Great Yarmouth)..
I love coastal areas..as I love the sea..
I have found all advice invaluable...(buying the local newspaper a good idea..Kay)..
Have googled alot and have seen that there is a funfair/Carnival running for a week in Norfolk..with things to do..music..etc..
I have booked into a holiday park type place..it might be Haven..it has a swimming pool..(yeahhh!)..entertainment..and a stones throw from beach..£170 for 3 of us for a week..not bad..really..will keep you all posted.. : )

Ophelia..........West Runton is a lovely place and it boasts the best ( and possiably only ) rock pools on the Norfolk coast. Cromer is a pleasent place as well, all the usual sea-side stuff but it's not to hectic .
I hope you have a lovely holiday :)

I'm from Northumberland :-)

Yes, Scotland is very nice. I'm going to have myself a bit of a break there after the school hols have finished.

It always surprises me that we dont get more tourists up here - so much unspoilt countryside and empty beaches - but Im not complaining, lol - long may it remain this way!

The day we start to get amusements, theme parks and other tat is the day I move onwards.

:-)

Are you from my neck of the woods Eldrick/ ( before i was wisked away to Scotland). I am very biased towards the north east coast-- people do not realise how beautiful it is.
Hower must put a word in for Scotland east / wast coast highlands and islands

Eldrick Report 24 Jul 2008 14:07

So you just blithely disregarded Northumberland, eh. I see.

Not good enough up here, are we not?

Huh.

I see you have booked it now but just in case anybody else needs ideas, you could look on the Haven holidays website. As you can camp & use all their fun amenities too.
