DOES YOUR LOCAL COUNCIL LET YOU RECYCLE CARDBOARD AND OLD YELLOW PAGES AND CATALOGUES?

BUGS ME THAT MINE DOESN'T, BUT MY DAUGHTERS COUNCIL TAKE ANYTHING.

MIND, SAYING THAT, SHE RANG THEM TO ASK THEM TO ARRANGE A SPECIAL UPLIFT FOR TWO DOORS, AND WAS TOLD THERE WOULD BE A CHARGE OF £10 PER DOOR. THEY CHARGED HER £10 TO UPLIFT A WASHING MACHINE, BUT MY COUNCIL LIFT THEM FREE.

NO WONDER THERE IS SO MUCH FLY-TIPPING GOING ON.

LUCKILY, SHE GOT SOMEONE WITH A VAN TO UPLIFT THEM FOR HER.

JUST WHERE DOES THE COUNCIL TAX GO???????????????

TELL THEM YOU WILL ALL DUMP THE CONTENTS OF YOUR BINS ON THEIR DOORSTEP.

MY DAUGHTER WAS TOLD SHE DIDN'T QUALIFY FOR A BIGGER WHEELIE BIN, AS IT WAS WORKED ON THE SIZE OF THE GARDEN.

SHE WANTED IT TO PUT EVERYDAY RUBBISH IN, NOT GARDEN RUBBISH.

THEY EMPTY HER WHEELIE BIN ONCE A FORTNIGHT, AND HER RECYCLING BINS EVERY WEEK. THEY GAVE HER ANOTHER RECYCLING BIN THOUGH................. FOR NEWSPAPER, BUT SHE NEVER BUYS A PAPER.

Yes they take cardboard in the compost bins here

DON'T THINK THE COUNCILS IN SCOTLAND KNOW WHAT THEY ARE LOL

We can put cardboard in our recycle bins and yellow pages..........but not glass....we have to take that to a bottle bank.

Mine do take cardboard and yellow pages but dont take plastic bottles which is a big bugbare. I got rid of a three piece suit a few years ago cost me £15.00 for council to collect and had to wait ten days.

My biggest gripe is garden waste - some councils do this free - we either pay £26.00 to join scheme and a further £30.00 for green bin or do paper bags. I chose biodegradable paper bags last year £1.00 for 75 litre bag but only sold in multiples of 30. I paid £30.00 used six and put in shed - they have already started to biodgrade!!!

My uncle lives in next town and got a compost bin for free something to do with his council and WRAP. My Council charge £18.00 for a compost bin which I would like, but ill be buggered if I pay for when the next town are getting thiers for free.

I could go on lol.

Yes we have a cardboard collection .... goes with the gardening waste.

And we have a tiny little bungalow for two people.... and we have a big bin!

I have my own composter,,so no problem..

we can recycle bin almost anything,including clean bottles and jars,,to paper /cardboard,including clothing if its put in a plastic bag,

no charges are made if anyone has a green bin for composting,,,,,

We have three bins,

1. Black = landfill rubbish

2: Green = recyclable which means paper, plastic, bottles and cardboard

3. Brown = garden waste

Bins are collected alternative weeks, Black bins one week, Green and Brown the next.

We have a free collection of up to 3 items in 12 month period for large items such as fridges, sofas, etc.

Out of our personal choice we have three compost bins which get our grass clippings and kitchen scraps. These go onto the garden, pots and tubs the next year, when we start all over.

Our council tax is one of the lowest in the country, and we also have a large ethnic population, nevertheless the council is run by the Conservatives, who have a 95% majority over the other parties.

I think there should be a proposal put to parliament (ha ha) stating that ALL councils should uplift all household, garden and bulky refuse free of charge.

My other gripe is shredded paper!!!! We are all told to shred our bills, receipts and personal information to prevent identity fraud but my council wont collect shredded paper! I emailed them and they said it couldnt be broken down the way paper can! Suggested I put it in my compost which I dont have as free for other towns not but not mine!

We prob shred a bag of paper a week! Ive put a composter on my birthday wishlist but feel bad its free in other towns!!

Seems every council is different. We have two wheelies - black for general rubbish and green for recycling, emptied alternate weeks.
We pay for large items to be removed - I think it is £10 each or £15 for 3.
We have to take glass to the recycling, and I think we can now take tetra packs as well - but getting to the tip for people without a car is nigh on impossible!

Maddie. I just cut my personal info very finely with a pair of scissors, straight into my bin in the kitchen.

If you know anyone who has a rabbit or guinea pig, ask them if they can use it, as I know of a few people who use it.

We have 2 bins, a grey one for landfill and a green one for recyclable stuff, and a bag for garden waste. They take cardboard, but not yellow pages, nor shredded paper.
Yellow pages can be recycled by taking them either to the dump or a shop - don't know which one cos I'm blowed if I'm lugging it around. Likwise with bottles - either to the dump or recycling bins that are positioned in car parks. Don't have a car and am not willing to lug bottles a mile down the road!!

About 4 years ago I got rid of a bed base and mattress. They charged £15 per item. The base was 1 item, the mattress another - that was £30 for a bed!!
A three piece suite would be 1 sofa, 2 chairs and however many cushions so it could cost up to £120 to get rid of it!!

Our council tax is certainly not one of the cheapest in the country either!!

Here in Cardiff we have a black wheelie bin and a green wheelie bin and green bags.

Black bin with landfill waste collected every week

Green bin with garden waste and carboard on alternate weeks

Green bags with newspaper, glass, tins etc. on alternate weeks

All works a treat but they are talking about us having a bin for food waste and quite frankly I don't want that much!

Our council take plastic and glass bottles, but one week I put my wheelie bin out, and as it had been out overnight, someone had put an empty juice can in it, and the bin men took it out, and left it at my gate. But when they same thing happened to a neighbour two doors down, they didn't empty her bin.

What is your council tax for????????????????

Paying for the local clowns who call themselves councillors.

Don't fany having to recycle my food, but of course it's because as a nation, we waste that much food.

And the government should charge all these suppliers who use fancy packaging a tax.
That would make them stand up and take note.

We have to recycle our watse food we are fined if its in out main bin. But I now pay a firm to clean food bin every week as its not designed to fit under a standard tap. I pay more to clean my bins, my council tax is more and I do the bin mans job in my eyes sorting all all my waist into bags we cant mix recycle in one bin like some councils. No tips this xmas for bin men - I even fancy it as a cushy job!! If Main fortnightly bin lid open even an inch they can refuse to collect.

If your a bin man dont bank on tips!

Ours doesnt Vicky, doesnt even give proper boxes for other stuff, I use kids toy boxes,
