Oh dear, can understand how stressful it has been for everyone then. Sorry to hear your brother is having relationship problems but from things you have said in the past, am not surprised.
Hope you get as much rest as poss and the work in the flats is soon finished.
Lizx
You got that sofa bed yet lol?

Thanks guys, I really wish I could just sleep for a week, but tomorrow I'm getting my washing machine brought round and my old cooker collected, the kitchen fitters are still working in the block and usually start at 8.30 and on monday they're coming to do my bathroom. So I'll have a week of early starts, noise and dust.

Liz, they moved at the same time I did because I got their cooker and fridge LOL. The bungalow has made a big difference to dad but the stress of the move, plus my brother's relationship is in crisis, has probably not really helped. Add to that, he's a stubborn swine who won't stop and rest.... Anyway, he's relegated to bed for a few days.

And I might spend as much time as I can in my own. LOL.

Thanks again,
Liz. *hugs* (In fact I'm off to bed now)

Hi Liz, what a worry for you all. Do you think that your Dad was having a bit of a panic attack and it came out the way it did? He must have been worrying a lot, that the infection wasn't clearing as it might.
Have your parents moved house yet?

I hope your Dad makes good progress and is soon feeling better than now, and that you can rest a bit and restore your strength as much as poss with fm.
Miss you at night time, lol

Hi all, thank you so much for this. It's been a difficult 36 hours.

The chest infection that Dad had when we were in whitley bay never completely went and finally he mentioned it to the GP last week when he started coughing while there. She listened and said she was concerned so sent him for an X-ray. The result came back on Tuesday this week that he had pneumonia. She'd already put him on some antibiotics last week just in case so she just extended them.

Yesterday he very suddenly started feeling breathless and like there was a band being tightened round his lungs. He let mum call the duty GP and he said he wanted him in hospital and would send an ambulance. (Cute paramedic but that's beside the point).

They did very little for him in hospital except for running tests. The ECG showed a slight irregularity in his heart rate but despite being on blood thinners the SHO (doc type) thought he'd more than likely got a clot on his lung (not that they rushed about it if that had been the case). Later they thought he might have had a heart attack.

Today when we went in, we were told we could take him home. All the tests had come back clear, no heart attack, no blood clot and the pneumonia was receding. They gave extra antibiotics and sent him home, still barely able to walk with breathlessness and not even offering a wheelchair until mum asked for one.

So, they did nothing for him, still have no real clue why an infection that was receding should suddenly cause such severe breathlessness. BUT at least he'll be able to sleep at home, unlike he could on the medical assessment unit (where they kept him all night with all the comings and goings).

Thank you all for your well wishes, they mean so much. I'm absolutely exhausted on only 3 and half hours sleep and I think the worst thing of all was mum worrying about if she might lose him. No one likes to be reminded that their parents aren't immortal.

My FM is giving me hell and it's highly likely I'll be having a very early night tonight.

*hugs all round*
Liz
