Ann :):)

The beta blockers seem to have brought my pulse back to a nice level again although sometimes it seems to miss one or two beats, I shall be watching those things like a hawk

I think I am going to have to possibly do a tral day without one or the other and see how I get on with it to, see which ones causing the fellings I am getting, it feels so odd and I am not used to it at all yet :)

I dont think I am to keen on being on the middle range Statin either which gives me that extra boost to try and bring things down by changing the diet now .

More likely the beta blockers Colin. When I went on BP medication at first, I didn't feel right on the first one. dr said there are plenty to try we will keep trying until we get the right one for you. I guess the same applies to statins.

Hi Yorkshire P

Joint pain was one of the things I was told to watch out for and go back to the doctors if they flared up.

Hi Ann, Ann, Caz and Yorkshire P :):)

Thank you all for your feedback, it is most appreciated :)

Hi Ann ( in Glos )

Sorry about the other missing thread,

I have recently suffered my first angina attack. The heart specialist has told me that the ECGs suggest that I have been given a very close warning at this time and one I now need to sit up and take notice of.
Other test suggest very high cholesterol and as there is a very strong history of fatal heart attacks in the immediate family I am at a very high risk.

I have been given statin, beta blockers and asprin and told I must do everything I can to bring down those cholestrerol levels.

I have to have further test as soon as I am over the accident I had this week, which as held them up.

Hi Yorkshire P :):)

Yep I agree, life can certainly be a bitch at times :) Its throwing so many things my way this year. I just need to survive it :)

Hi Ann ( of Green Gables ) The familial name is definitely the one, it has claimed at least 3 males all of early years 40s and 50s and of which I have now caught up with the age to :( Scarey thought although trying not to stree myself to much over it.

I am not quite sure what my levels actually are at the time but have to go back and have regular checks now to.

I definitely have to bring them down to a safer level though.

Hi Caz :):)

Thank you for asking your mum, it would be good to compare :):)

Julie, my OH is on 10mg, when I asked my Dr why I was on 20 he told me 10mg was not worth taking. I did point out that that was what he'd put my OH on, he was surprised, but it did work so can't complain. OH due for another check soon.

Just to clarify, I take statins as well as tablets for high BP plus a low dose aspirin daily. I don't like taking drugs but I will if they improve my chance of having a long life!!

hi Anne, my doctor put me on 40mg simvastatin, but i dont think it agrees with me. ive felt really unwell since taking it, so its good to know lowering cholesteral can be done through a ghange of diet. thankyou, nite x
