Eggs and cheese are bad, ..................oily fish is good though, as are fruit and fresh vegetables. |

hi Colin, I didn't see the other thread so I assume you have a cholesterol problem. can I say that if you are offered statins take them. I tried the diet way to no avail, my cholesterol was almost 6. I have been taking a fairly low dose statin 20mg Simvastatin for 6 months and my HDL cholesterol is now 3.5 and the LDL is 1.5 so it has dropped considerably. tony too has to take statins and he only has a 10mg Simvastatin and his too immediately dropped right down |

Hi Colin - high cholesterol is not necessarily anything to do with what you eat. I was diagnosed with high cholesterol about ten years or so ago - I kept thinking I was having heart attacks - chest pains. Cholesterol was checked and was 9, so I asked GP not to give me tablets but said I'll sort it, I eat all the wrong things, so I cut out all the naughty things and one month later my cholesterol was 11.6!!!! I immediately went on Simvastatin and that was changed about two years ago to Atorvastatin. My high cholesterol is apparently called familial - one of my parents would have suffered from it. Had my annual check two weeks ago and it is 4.6 |

hi Anne, my doctor put me on 40mg simvastatin, but i dont think it agrees with me. ive felt really unwell since taking it, so its good to know lowering cholesteral can be done through a ghange of diet. thankyou, nite x |
