Amanda it does and when I worked in Brum I used to lose half my staff on Pride Weekend the party was so good....but my feelings are great lets have a party lets have a massive party in fact but there is no need to direct it at any specific section of the community

Indeed Colin...........it is a sad fact in my area that we no longer have a carnival..........so many small businesses have folded so there is no financial support for the carnival.............same with the small community "do" that used to occur on the estate.

Thanks Tory...but don't feel the need to shout from the rooftops about who or what I am and neither should anyone else. No-one should feel the need in this day and age to 'justify themselves' to any other section of society.

I meant we pay for a lot of events that aren't relevant to us individually, like Amanda say's Carnivals etc are stopped.Local to me they're trying to charge the fair £2000 for extra policing for 3 days-it's ludicrous.

No worries Colin but I do agree you have a valid point, however,if people chose to celebrate an aspect of their individuality at the end of the day we can't stop them & so long as people have freedom to express themselves at least we know we live in a Democracy.I think there's a lot of apathy locally-like with the fair I mentioned, had someone got a petition etc maybe we'd make a difference.
So long as important festivals aren't put on the scrap heap I fear we'll just have to 'grin & bear' it.

ccouldn't agree more Colin - as far as I'm concerned peoples' sexual preferences are personal, I do not wish to know if someone is heterosexual, lesbian or gay or anything else there may be that I don't know about!!! I just don't want to know or discuss it - anymore than I want to know their politics or their eating habits - it's their business and they should keep it to themselves - no way would I discuss my sexual preferences with anyone
