Off to the ol' straw palisade myself, Amanda (reading "the Other Boleyn Girl" so many a medieval reference tonight)

I'll try to be around at the weekend, but I'm a bit short of the sliced white, so I may need to excuse myself, while off queuing.

Good to have a crack with you too.

They would have probably offered to help in the event of a blockage..............it wasn't easy to get them to say good-bye today..........i fibbed and said I am affiliated to the Quakers ( my Mum was one and as religions go I rather like them ) but at the Q word their ears pricked up.

I'll have to hide if they come back another day.

I'm off to bed now.........it's been lovely to chat Sue.

Catch you over the bank holiday perhaps

Amanda xx

But it keeps nice boys in nice suits away, Amanda.

To everything a point, and a point to everything...... as they say.

Jees, I wish I could meet one of these "they" - they're seriously awash with sayings.

Please Sue.........don't remind me of the bunged up loo !!!.............I don't want that talked up.........lol

Can't have helped when you mentioned that bunged up loo!

Better prospects next door, methinks

lol Ann.............he certainly sounds like a bit of a lad.

I once sent two old lady Jehovas off quickly by accident.......they had knocked and I answered with bowl of baby food in hand and screams erupting from the feeding babe..........they just gave a sage nod and turned tail without a word :)

Hi CMD - they called just after 9:00 am one morning - I said "Donlt you think it's a little early in the day to be calling on people" to which one replied "Well it is the anniversary of the resurrection of the Lord" to which I replied "I'm well aware of that fact thank you, I am a churchgoer" to which she replied "I'm very glad to hear it"!!!! Patronising bitch was what I thought - my son's friend had a good way of dealing with them though - he's a bit of a lad to say the least and when a neighbour rang him and said "Friends of yours on the way down the road" he dashed upstairs, took off all his clothes and answered to door in the nude to these two old girls, who scarpered pretty quick I can tell you" They haven't called on him again needless to say!

Amanda2003

Amanda2003 Report 19 May 2008 23:29

You've seen him then.............lol

He is called Grow bag because he used to have an allottment.........he is rather tall.

Oh dear.........perhaps my nick name will end up being that "old grow bag "..............I wouldn't go near the White lightening these days........my stomach couldn't take the abuse anymore.

suzian

suzian Report 19 May 2008 23:23

Wonderful word picture, Amanda.

Is the basket on the front of old grow bag's trollley full of White Lightning?

And why is he called Old Grow Bag?

He sounds just right for conversion

Amanda2003 Report 19 May 2008 23:17

They would certainly find the stuff of life in our local co-op..........I wonder what they would make of old " grow-bag"..........he goes to the shop on his oap trolly cart so he dosn't fall over ( being drunk ) .....lol

suzian

suzian Report 19 May 2008 23:13

See, it does good on all fronts.

The nice boys in smart suits do their stuff, the bread queue is at worst entertained, and at best find the staff of life.

A reason for everything.

And the sane amongst us have a lie in

Lol Sue

Amanda2003

Amanda2003 Report 19 May 2008 23:08

They could break bread and convert at the same time

with a captive audience............lol

suzian

suzian Report 19 May 2008 23:06

give them something really useful to do - there's a bread queue near you starting to gather momentum.
Converts by the hundred just waiting to be talked to.

Bank Hols coming up. Again.

As soon as I put this thread up the kids wanted to have time on the pc.........only just got them to let me back on..........lol

It hasn't been my day.

Har har Ray........catch you Latter..........lol

I was miffed about the soggy cornflakes Sue.....the dogs on the other hand were most pleased.

Ann........the Jehovas don't knock on our door.....we are in their naughty book.

carla........one of the nice boys had an american accent.........but was apparently from Leister ?? a plastic yank ??

Thanks all for your comments

I am always polite to anyone who knocks my door
.
however I do get frustrated when the free papers are delivered, and they just put them halfway through the letter box..leaving a howling draught, and letting everyone know I am not at home....

what did they say to offend you Ann?
