Christina Report 17 May 2008 20:30

some of it is quite clever and if its on a deralict wall somewhere then i dont see the harm

Some of it is quite clever but it's mainly a pain

Devon Dweller Report 17 May 2008 20:32

and the mind boggles when you see some places...how do they do it on the side of a bridge??

unsub Report 17 May 2008 20:36

It depends.
In it's proper place (e.g a place set aside for it) and well done it is art - and i've seen some great pieces.
However, when someone just tags and does it in inappropriate places it is annoying and criminal.

I suppose with the wierd shaping of the words and bright colours, it reminds me of psychedelia.......been there, done that, so its old fashioned to me........but then I am not into modern art.either............many are and they would most probably dislike what I like......

.....so in answer.....I would see it as a nuisance....

Artistic, but clumsy, ugly when 'splattered' on outside walls. Wasted skills, but what the heck it's modern day 'art'....

IN THE RIGHT PLACES

ITS AN ART

Eldrick

Eldrick Report 17 May 2008 20:52

Its filthy dirty drug culture mindless vandalism done by a bunch of low life...

actually, just kidding.

Some of it brightens up some awful dull places and is very skilfully done.

Other places are just a mess and the people who do it should be tarred and feathered :-)

Hi TW,

If its done on a designated place.. fair do's.. some of it is good but most messy.

but if its done on trains, walls, fences etc its illegal in my book.

Hi TW,
In the right place some of it's fantastic.
Done by some very talented kids.

Some of it is absolutely Dire. and those that have done the rubbish ones should be made to scrub off every inch that they did.!
Kids should be given somewhere to have display walls, maybe in school grounds or somewhere relevant to them.BUT only on those walls NOT other school or peoples property.
Tricia
oops gonna have to sort that new name out!

There is an annual competition in Norwich, on the walls around a derelict car park, and some of it is absolutely fantastic!

I agree, most of it is jsut vandalism, but sometimes it is really clever and a wasted talent in my eyes.

the manority of it is nothing more than vandalism but there are rare exceptions of true artistry

LittleWhiteDove2022351

LittleWhiteDove2022351 Report 17 May 2008 21:23

Yep it is vandalism when it's in the wrong places. can't get away from that.
