Rosalind in Madeira

Rosalind in Madeira Report 13 May 2008 19:28

Wine is cheap here Catherine as there is no tax on it and VAT is 8% on ordinary wine. Madeira wine is fortified so is more expensive. I do miss the choice though that you have in the UK, we mainly get Portuguese wines and some are very good. A good one we had the other day cost 7.50€ and that is pushing the boat out. For light and refreshing we drink Gazella which is a Vino Verde.

wow that's sounds good Rosalind
that's the trouble with the UK the wines are so expensive- I paid £4.99 for me Zinfandel what that like 8 euros's? and that was one of the cheapest. some are like £7 a bottle-
I do like portuguese wine though-not the fortified stuff though.
