Goodo
My only remaining concern now is whether or not you have a firewall. You will find the Windows one (of which I am not a massive fan) under Control Panel.
To check whether you have one running, open Control Panel (from your Start menu in the bottom left corner) and make sure you are in Classic View - you can change this towards the top left corner of Control Panel. Now find Security Center (sic) and double click on it. Another window will open up. Look for the bit about Firewall, where it will tell you if you are running one. If it says you are running two then close one of them.

Tried that, but there is no Firewall, unless it is a different name on there.
But thanks Errol, I have fixed it.
What i did was got so fed up with the incredimail.... I decided to uninstall it.
The minute I did that... I got the help I needed.
It asked me if I wanted it to look for faults (my word, can't remember what it said exactly) so I clicked yes... took a few minutes but it fixed it for me!
A brave .. or stupid move on my part, but it came off.
thank you for trying to help me.
All's well that ends well.
As the old Bard..... said! ;-0)

I am doing this "blind" so please forgive me if I miss a step out.
1. Open Bullguard by double clicking on its icon (bottom right of screen somewhere).
2. When it opens, click on Firewall.
3. Select Beginner and click on the Rules tab.
4. You should now see a list of programmes that require internet access.
5. Scroll through the list and make sure that it says Allow next to each of the following files:

IMApp.exe
ImNotfy.exe
IncMail.exe
ImpCnt.exe

Give the above a try and then see if you can send emails.

ok you need to check that it is allowing certain files to access the internet - bear with me

Deanna Report 7 May 2008 17:29

Must be, it just says BULLGUARD.

It has been great, so perhaps I've done something?

Is it Bullguard Internet Security?

Deanna

Deanna Report 7 May 2008 17:21

Errol, i don't know wjhat you mean by a firewall.
I have BULL GUARD which came on a trial basis with the computer.. i was impressed with it so I bought it after the 3 months trial.
I also have windows defender.

So that is all i can tell you.
I'm a self taught Computer 'destroyer', and in the main i do very well. BUT the slightest thing which I find unable to fix.... and I panic.

I don't think that's the problem here Surfmonkey (although that is an excellent piece of software).
I wouldn't be surprised if it is the firewall - sounds like an outbound port is being blocked due to an over zealous setting.

Deanna Report 7 May 2008 13:56

I'm so sorry Errol.... not my normal character, but I was feeling really got at.
Hot a good day today.

Please accept my apologies... I'm becoming a bad tempered old woman...

Going off to watch a film our son bought us this morning... then Allan has to go to the clinic at 3.30.... I will be back then.

I can't think of anything that I have done to cause this problem.... so it is all in your hands now.
See you later.... and I'M SO SORRY.... humble humble ..... bows deeply....
