We are off to the Islands next week - going home for the last time! If you go to France use the Manches Isles ferry to St Malo. Don't know if it applies to the English but we needed a passeport to book on the Manches Isles as it's a French ferry. You can go all over from St. Helier by bus. No one mentioned the Gerald Durrel Zoo. Don't know if the ferry goes to Graville but that's a nice old town. Look at private guest houses as well as hotels. We booked in February and most of the good, reasonably priced ones in Jersey are already booked up. Online check out 'thisisjersey.com and thisisguernsey.com (local papers). All the events are listed on there so you can find something you like to do.
All the islands are beautiful but driving in Guernsey (haven't been to Jersey for years but is probably the same now) is a nightmare and parking too. If you want a quiet peaceful time go to Sark. Food can be expensive all over - lunches up to 8 pounds and dinner 8 pounds to 36 pounds. Maybe comparable to the UK but much more expemsive than here (over the pond). You can download a list of eating places with all the charges. The islands all look small but except for Sark you cannot walk round them in a day. Loads to do on all the islands and they are all clean and beautiful. Enjoy your holiday...we are going for a month and staying with rellies for most of the time, thank goodness.

Lots of Regional Airports do a good deal on flying to Jersey.
You can get an all in package with Hotel from Southampton Airport. Dont know if any of the other ones do this.

We went in February Colin, last time we were there was in 1965 for our honeymoon.....

I suggest you hire a car, there are lovely places to visit and the food is great, especially the fish......St. Helier has lovely shops and a nice pedestrian centre.......the one way system took a bit of getting used to.........at that time of the year it was very quiet and easy to park.......it is quieter at the top of the island and the scenery is wonderful.....parts of it are like Cornwall.....

enjoy your visit if you go Colin....x sally

Ooh it is a lovely island. I prefer it to Guernsey though I like both.

The scenery is beautiful and coastline lovely. We spent a week there with our children some years ago out of season and we still found plenty to do.

I agree that the Underground German Hospital is an excellent trip.
Places may have changed but we liked the Orchid Foundation, butterfly farm, castle in St Hellier, Jersey Pearl and potteries.

We took our car and I think it is probably best to have your own transport but I expect there are regular buses.

Well worth a visit.
