Dawnieher3headaches Report 29 Apr 2008 17:33

Havent been on for a while as have been feeling really bad and was just waiting to see my consultant hoping he would wave his magic wand and make me feel ok again.

Today was the day appt at 11am he was running an hour late so got in just after 12.
He asked why he hadnt seen me for so long and I reminded him he had discharged me but if I needed an appointment to call his secretary which is how I got todays. He said he was glad I had done that as I have gone downhill and now am showing symptons of two other things which are auto immune things.

Last year my bloods showed a weak positive for something which can either lie dormant or flare up which he thinks mine has. He wanted to admit me there and then to get me sorted out as I feel so awful. Once my mouth had hit the floor and come back up told him I couldnt because I had 3 children so he said he would treat me at home for a week and then reassess me next Tuesday.

Had to agree to have a load of things done in order to be allowed to go home. So had tear drop tests again very strange having paper sticking out your eyes good job I couldnt see myself, last time that was fine today was a very poor result. Then urine tests then off to Pathology for bloods a meer 8 thingys they took not sure if they left me enough or not. After that was a trip for a chest xray and to pharmacy to pick up steroids (vowed id never take them)

Luckily my friend picked tiddler up from school as I wasnt backk in time made it home just before they turned up here.

Am hoping that a week of steroids will make me feel better as cant take much more of this although hoping wont wont go like a weeble wobble girl, was bad enough them telling me after my weeks of dieting and me losing weight that I had put on weight from last year.
Also hope the bloods come back ok other wise could add Lupus or Sjogrens Syndrome to my growing list of ailments.

D xx

Hello You,

Sounds like a nasty barrage of tests!! At least your consultant sounds like they are 'on the ball'.

I hope the steroids help. Good luck with the test results, fingers crossed for you.

Take care

Oh Dawn, ...I wish I could help you in some way.
You certainly seem to be having a rough deal lately.
I really hope the meds. work this week, but if you need to go in to be 'sorted' maybe it would be what's needed in the long run and might save you feeling so low each day.

You, your young ones and your hubby need you to get the best help you can, so please accept it for the long term benefit of all of you.

Sending a gentle ((hug))

Dawnie, it depends on the dosage of steroids as to whether you put on weight. A short length of time will not do it. I have a niece with Lupus. She is a school teacher and seldom has time off work because of it, though I believe it does caause some problems. It seems that once your system starts to break down abit everything gets thrown at you, thank heavens that you do not have to pay for treatment. Can you make arrangements for the children to be looked after if you go in hospital? You dont need extra worry. Jean
