OH has spoken to his cousin and told him about my chq being banked-he explained that it looked a bit funny that it was banked after he told him he would do his job for free-
his explanation was that-cos the name on the chq was different to what my married name now is-they never realised-so I assume I will be getting a refund at some point-

so a possible family fued has slightly been averted-

thanks for all your thoughs

What does OH have to say.

my reply would have been,

It would be impossible to eat £18 pounds worth,
refused to go family or not at the same time give them the bill for OH work

Well, as they have gone back on what they said by banking your cheque would indeed send them an invoice for the work done already and add that any further work will not be done until said bill has been paid.

Joan Report 29 Apr 2008 14:30

Like others, I would give a bill for the parts and not the labour or a bill for £18 (in bold type).
A hod's as good as a sink to a blind norse. (or something like that !)
Good luck

Catherine,You have every right to feel miffed.I had a similar situation some years ago with my Mother.I paid up,however I sent in a Bill for work done at full rate. with a warning,If this is not paid within One Month of date on The Bill,10% will be added for late Payment. **M**.

thanks everyone-
What with the easter basket at the school the other month now this-----

Aunty knew I was paying as I had a conversation with her prior to me writing the chq out-

They asked OH to do the work then must have banked my chq after-cos I gave a chq in to them on the 13/3 it don't take till yesterday to clear...

I had a word with OH's cousin who I'm really close to, and she said send em a bill for £18-lol

Hi, Catherine - yes I'd be annoyed too but (I know I'm not going to be popular for this) - give them the benefit of the doubt, let it go, it's not worth a row BUT if your OH is asked to do a job for them in future I'd do what someone else said & give them a written quote/estimate and don't let them have it done for free again.

((hugs))

I would be annoyed, but do you think they have forgotten?

I would be tempted to itemise the cost of the job Olly i doing and say something like, just so you can see how much it cost but of course as you are family we wont be charging.
