I collect them and snails and feed them to the chickens. They love them and run around like headless chickens :-))) when their are on offer.

Slugs haven't got shells Puss................snails have.

I trod on a slug last night when I went to shut the greenhouse in my bare feet.....................eeeeeeewwwwww

Snails wreck plants too, but at least they have interesting shells! lol

well ive stuck me toms in there now with egg shells, funny theyve left me strawberry plants alone
slugs must be well healthy eating all that green stuff,where do they put it all

Hi, over the weekend, while moving our water butts around we noticed we had a toad just under the shed, then i noticed a green slimy thing,we moved away for a couple minutes, when looked back the slikmy thing was no more, pet toads is a good thing

Tsk! Puss....poor little things....they have got feelings too yer know.....There must be a society for the prevention of cruelty to slugs.

PS...have you tried growing your herbs in a pot and putting butter or oil round the sides.....won't kill them then....but at least they will have some fun by sliding down the tub.....what, with the beer and slide...wot more could they want for a day out?

The Oats idea was on Gardeners World and it works.

Birds pick up the snail shells when snails are dead.

So no need to pick shells up.

Get some old fashioned vaseline and rub around the base of the pots/containers - they will not be able to climb up the pots - old fashioned but it works. (The same principal as copper but cheaper).
