i have recieved the london 1861 census cd roms today
with street & index {i thought i could search also by surname]
i thought i could search just by surname the suppliers do have them with surname search but that does not state what areas i wanted these cd roms that come today are for the following london areas {ones i wanted] KENSINGTON- CHELSEA- ST GEORGE HANOVER SQ -WESTMINSTER- ST MARTINS IN THE FIELDS-ST JAMES MARYLEBONE- HAMPSTEAD-PANCRAS-ISLINGTON-HACKNEY- ST GILES STRAND-HOLBORN- CLEKENWELL ST LUKE- EAST LONDON - WESTLONDON- LONDON CITY -SHOREDITCH-BETHNALL GREEN -WHITECHAPEL-ST GEORGE IN THE EAST -STEPNEY-MILE END OLD ROAD -POPLAR-ST SAVIOUR SOUTHWARK-ST OLAVE SOUTHWARK-BERMONDSEY- plus a few more
i dont know the street & area for the index does this mean trawling is there anyone with these cdroms that would swop for the search by surname 1861 same areas

There are many more who will do lookups and help others than those who say"look for yourself"

If you put requests on Records or Tips more are looking to help others on there too. Rather than this board which often moves fast without anybody noticing requests rather than general threads.

A bit of advice if you are fairly new to this check your threads to see if anyone has replied and just to say thanks for any help given too, as some never think to say this and when people do look ups it can take time and cost membership fees.

I too would be willing to do some checks for you I have Ancestry, but will be unable to check back much before 7:00 tonight as I am at lunch now, but working til then.
