Hi guys anyone got any ideas what this could be

she gets like a slight headache at first and then her vision starts to get very blurred and her hearing goes fuzzy and she cant hear people talking and she starts to feel very faint then each symptom goes away at a different time.

Today was the third time since friday

Anyone ever heard of anything like this before

I have got her into see the Doctor but any thoughts would be great

Thats what i thought low blood sugar at first

but she eats well

my daughter had something similar with bad headaches, she needed glasses but also her posture wasn't good, and the way she carried heavy school bag on shoulders - indian head massage very good

my granddaughter had those symptoms a year ago

she was treated for low sugar not eating all day

I used to get like that *at that time*, about a week or so before, when I was in my teens... but it stopped after about 18 months or so.

as i said it first i thought it was low blood sugar
but i moniterd what she ate on saturday

and she had another attack on saturday night so i kind of ruled that out unless its her metabolisim (sp)

when i took my daughter to the doctor the first thing they ask is any touble ie bullying at school, worrying over exams etc. my doctor was good ruling different things out, blood pressure etc. found the tension in neck and shoulders which was causing the pains in the head and eyes
any way hope you quickly find cause, its the not knowing thats the worst.

Could also be migraines. My friend at work suffers like that. She has sight problems when her migraines are starting to build up and often needs to lie in a darkened room. Whatever it is, shee needs to get checked out but I'm sure that's a bit like teaching Granny to suck eggs so no offence meant there cos I'm sure you've already thought of that.

still could be low blood sugar even if she eats well
junk food gives a fast high then drops rapidly

also check for anaemia high % of teenage girls are anaemic

When I was in my late teens I was often unwell in the time between menstruating. and the works nurse sometimes had to come and fetch me and take me to lay down for a while. She told me it was something to do with ovulation but I can't find the information on line, probably because I am not putting the right info into the search box. Could be something like that causing it.
Hope the doctor can help and she is soon fine again.

hi just steve your daughters symtoms are the same i get just before a migraine the best thing she can do if shes at home is to go bed and sleep it off make sure the room is dark or wear eye masks kind regards kerry

I was going to say migraine too..my daughter gets them.

Hi Steve

Ask your doctor to refer her to an ENT Consultant, as these are my symptoms, and it is Menieres Disease with me.

I collapse 2 or 3 times a month. Other symptoms of menieres are hearing loss, tinnitus, dizziness, brain fog etc.

The ENT Consultant will arrange tests for her in a special room filled with flashing light banks, a bit like a disco, followed by laying on the bed and having warm water put into each ear. This will send her off on a dizzy one. They will be able to tell then which ear the Menieres is in.

Google Menieres Disease and have a look at the Society's website for more info.

Hopefully it is not this for your daughter and it turns out to be something simple and 'teenage' such as gallivanting hormones, but seeing as they took 3 years to diagnose me I wouldn't like her to have to go through all the procedures I went through before they found out what it was.

Hi Steve,My daughter suffers with her mouth drooping and her arm going numb as well since she was 14.She is usually sick and then all symptons disappear.Been diagnosed with migraine. Annie

my mum and my sister get these symptoms just before a vertigo attack
i always thought that was something to do with heights but apparently it can be triggered by sitting staring at a computer screen for too long (as in my sisters case)
or wearing the wrong perscription glasses (mum)
