Spaghetti Bolognese always reminds me of my lovely Lawrence - it was a regular Monday evening meal and he absolutely loved it, with a bottle of red wine to go with it he was on cloud nine and usually very squiffy come bed time - think of him every time I make it

Stewed apples,
....Christine,a friend from years ago who said she hated to find 'toenails' in them ( hard bits from near the core)

Warm Blancmange
.....My late friend Loraine, who was forever making it for supper when we were students.

Bread pudding
....Mum who was always thrifty and made lovely puddings if the bread was getting a bit hard.

Fresh peas in the pods,
......mother-in-law who once bought 2 sacks of them from a farm. We all sat round watching TV and shelling them.

Kippers and my lovely Dad - he spent ages dissecting them - it was like watching a very delicate operation, then he smothered them in vinegar

I love jellied eels, and stewed eels and mash, and all the sea foods.

Dripping with the jelly on, reminds me of my Grandfather, he just simply could not wait for Gran to tip the fat into a basin.

Streaky bacon and eggs remind me of my Dad, he had this every morning for breakfast.

My Uncle cutting a joint of pork, and eating the crackling as he went along.

My husbands Grandfather eating bread and milk, because he did not have many teeth.

My husbands Mother, eating ginger and cream, which she just adored.

My mom, god bless her,
she use to say get me some of that yellow fish, or whatever you call it,it had to be with a slice of bread and butter.

my daughter when pregnant,
boiled potatoes,
runner beans,
two fried eggs, [softly done]
gravy

the eggs use to float in the gravy, turn my guts over.
