You cant tar evryone with the same brush...there are some very wealthy people that love giving money away too... because they dont publicise it, doesnt mean that it doesnt happen

I think, in many ways, PC was born out of basic good manners and manners are very important.

I wouldn't want to knowingly give offence to strangers by my use of words that they find offensive.

I don't think it's got anything to do with social class, though. Members of all classes can be very offensive or very polite.

Webster and Gwynne have already said how I feel about it.

Political correctness is in my opinion, just another
means by which the few buisbodies get control
of the weak minded.
There have laws come out of Europe covering
eveything from what biscuits to have with tea or
coffee at elevens's. To what colour shoes to wear
on maundy sunday. So really no need for P. C.

Is it weak minded to have good manners? I don't think so.

I'm not sure what biscuits have to do with political correctness. European regulations are a different issue altogether.

ahhh, but one can be good mannered without having to be politically correct......:-)

For example, holding a door open for a lady to be told 'I don't need that patronising c**p thank you'.

So now its much easier NOT to open doors, stand up when a lady comes into the room or pay for all the drinks and the candlelit meal at Macdonalds, isnt it?

So PC rules for me !

Good manners dictate that we do hold doors open for people, I'd say. I certainly do. It's not nice to let them slam in people's faces.

I help people on and off buses with shopping and pushchairs as well.

I think if we all respected the differences in each other there would be no need for PC......but that is an unreal world.......there are always going to be those who think they are better than ...... or know more than, others......

I think the truth of the matter is there are pleasant and unpleasant people in this world. Some of them are born that way and some have become the people they are because of their various upbringings.

There are some rich people who do wonderful and exciting things to benefit others with their fortunes and it must be really exciting to be able to dream up projects to help those less fortunate. If I won the Lottery I’d really enjoy sharing not only with my family but also with deserving causes. It would be great to set up projects which would have long term benefits.

Some poor people manage to scrimp and save and give their children good lives despite poverty, while others I know still waste money even if they haven’t got much in the first place.

Good manners and being well behaved is something anyone can achieve. I think many PC rulings are well meaning attempts not to upset others which end up looking rather foolish but the thought may have been a good one.

The world would be a better place if before we did or said anything we stopped and thought about the feelings of others. If we did as we should and tried to treat other people as we’d like to be treated then we wouldn’t need anyone to lay down rules of political correctness.
