My son is getting better at cooking, did me a roast dinner for Mother's Day at his flat, he is 25. Would have been better if he had cleaned the kitchen up before he started lol he only had a tiny space to work on and had to wash two plates up before hand, bless him lol |

I've just remembered a story from when I was nursing in the 70's. A young lad had just started his general training and first time away from home. He decided to make beans on toast, put the bread in the toaster, then poured the beans in as well !! |

You certainly have my sympathy, my 16 year old son wont go anywhere near the kitchen. The most he will do is a pot noodle or cup a soup, if those aren't available he wont bother, he'd rather go hungry. As for reading a cook book he'd go into shock just at the mention of it. |

Tin of tomatoes, black pepper, bit of bacon, garlic, some dried herbs (you can probably get a 'ready made' Italian mix), splash of wine if there's any on the go, couple of spoonfuls of sugar - very quick and easy pasta sauce with numerous variations. Can be made while the pasta is boiling. Top with grated parmesan (or cheddar). |

Well written with bloke humour, like 'Crack 2 eggs into the pan. Remove egg-shell from pan.' :-) |

Oh, Jenny, I remember my flatmates at uni doing that - they put frozen hotdogs in the frying pan, if I remember correctly. I couldn't believe it - I don't know whether they would have cooked through properly or not, but I certainly wouldn't have eaten them. |
