...the programme about the disgraceful standards of cleanliness at top British hotels on TV last night....cleaning basins with loo brushes, not changing duvet covers and wiping a cup on a dirty pillowcase urggh..

Was disgusting, as hub says, if it's like that in these places what's it like in the others?!

We've stayed in them but next time think I'll take my son's tent!

You are talking one of the most expensive chain of hotels in the country - mind you having worked in the airline industry for a few months last year, I saw the same cloths being used in toilets and galley areas of planes and one bucket of water being made to last a 12 hour shift and perhaps being used on 20 odd different aircraft...so perhaps poor cleanliness standards are common in the service industry

If you think thats bad....

Next time you stay in a travel lodge or similar, in fact any hotel, do this...

Look under the bed and on the bedframe under the mattress.

Look in the cistern

See if the bath panel comes away and look in there

Take the draws out of the units, esp the ones next to the bed, and look underneath them.

You will be amazed and probably quite disturbed at what you find.

I used to stay quite frequently at a major international chain starting with H. On one occasion a business colleague found body hairs in her bed when she pulled back the covers, came to light that they hadn't changed the sheets just smoothed them down. The manager apologised and offered her a free stay in any of their hotels...like she would have wanted to

We used to do fingertip searches of hotel rooms before a VIP stayed in them.....also the ones next door and above and below.

Never ceased to amazed me what we would find, lol

Very unsavoury!

Says me, proudly!!!

The hotel I work in was awarded the "Eat Safe" standard by the Highland Regional Council.

It is only one of three which have this award!

i saw that it was awful cleaning the sink with the toilet brush and using the same sponge to clean the bathroom and the tea cups.
and as for the mice it beggars belief it sure does.
