She went to Cyprus a few weeks back and caught some sort of infection ......... it seems it's trying to take her over.........Dad says the name of it is virulitis but I've googled and can't find it.

Doctors think it came from the air con on the plane !!!!

She has to spray stuff in her mouth as whatever it is keeps growing inside her !!! If it hadn't been caught in time it would've caused all her organs to shut down.

She's still really poorly and will be on extremely strong steroids for at least the next two years........with the risk of kidney damage.

Anyone ever heard of this before? She is so weak she can't hold a cup and her face has ballooned because of the steroids.

We're all very worried about her xx

Oh Muffy, I hope she's OK in the end. I haven't heard of it.
My mam had a really bad chest infection form the air con on an airoplane a couple of years ago and they had to come home a week early. (She has a bad heart so felt safer at home). The company stung them for £200 and the plane home was only half full.
All my best wishes to you and your Aunt, Muffy.
EDIT - I have heard of Legionaires BTW

Muffs how awful for your Auntie, I really hope she is going to be ok. It does sound like legionnaires, we had a big break out here in 2002, 7 people died.

Love and prayers,

Thanks girls ......... all positive thoughts much appreciated. She's usually such an energetic lady.......Dad was devastated to see how weak she was yesterday.

Looks like it is going to be a long haul back to full health for her xx

Sorry to hear of your aunt's problems.I hope she makes a steady recovery.

I think, not sure because I'm not 'medical' that Legionaires is usually in water droplets or to do with moisture, eg shower heads.

My husband was ill within a day or two of arriving in NZ.
His 1st trip anywhere was to the doctors for antibiotics.
As he has never needed a doctor for years, we can only guess that he picked something up on the plane.
