Purple **^*Sparkly*^** Diamond Report 4 Apr 2008 04:41

Thouht from the start that it didn't look right with him being called stepfather and her that much older, and with so many children already. I didn't realise until yesterday that they had a child together, aged 2 I think.
I said on another thread, it looks more obvious now why Shannon wasn't happy and didn't want to go home.
From when she was first found at the uncle's house, it was said she didn't appear to have been harmed or interfered with in any way, and didn't seem to be aware she had been abducted.
The abductor doesn't go to court till November, they must have a lot of evidence to sort through for it to take so long.

I'm gonna dig that out and quote it tomorrow!

AnnCardiff

AnnCardiff Report 3 Apr 2008 23:55

it's from the Oxford English dictionary

Dawney

Dawney Report 3 Apr 2008 23:50

That is my definition too!

Is that your opinion or have you quoted it from somewhere?

AnnCardiff

AnnCardiff Report 3 Apr 2008 23:45

a paedophile - sexual desire towards children is the definition

It was rather weird how they were not reunited when Shannon was found, it looks like the Police had been suspicious with just reason as it now appears. I don't think we know the half of it yet. Poor child.

Earlier today I had a conversation with a few parents from school regarding this latest twist regarding the "Step Father". Some where of the opinion that he was classed as a paedo, others thought that he was classed as a sex offender but not a paedo as he hasn't (as far as we know) actually done anything physical. It seems to be a bit of a grey area - what would you "class" someone charged with this sort of thing? Paedo or Sex Offender?

you must be very careful not to catch your finger between the bricks when you clap them together though - always remember that CMD!!!!!!!

AnnCardiff Report 3 Apr 2008 23:08

we have a situation here in Cardiff at the moment where a paedophile who was living in a bail hostel abducted a three year old girl, drove away with her, sexually abused her, drove further away, abused her again and was only caught when he crashed the car. He was jailed for a ridiculously short amount of time and now is asking to be castrated!!! If only! I would very much like to carry out that operation myself but feel I would be at the end of a very long queue.

Two points.
Firstly, what happened about being innocent until proven guilty - are we not all setting ourselves up as judge, jury and executioner?
If he is guilty then let us hope he gets the punishment he deserves but until that happens let us not sway opinion - including that of potential jurors.
Secondly, is there not something wrong about a mother who has a relationship with a very young chap many years her junior? Instead of clamouring for the return of her daughter should we not be looking at those facts too?

What will this vile being get a slap on the wrist. If he stole a few thousand pounds from a bank he would be sent down for years.I think its about time we got our priorities right. Castrate them for starters, then release them into the hands of the public. The children whose lives they distroy are not given any consideration by them. They are low life and should be treated as such. A friend of mine use to castrate pigs on a farm she said she would do it for nothing

What a pity that Shannon has had all this publicity with photos in the paper. It will be difficult for the poor lamb to get back to a normal life among her peers. Wherever she goes from now on she will be recognised.

Maybe her *abductor* was her *place of safety*, poor little mite, that she is.

*Maybe* he has been kept in custody to protect him from vigilante groups, cos the police feel he was trying to protect not hurt her.

Maybe he wanted to abuse her at some stage..

But it is only this 22 year old who has so far been actually accused of any crime involving indecency and children. I find it informative that the abductor so far hasn't been charged with anything other than abducting.

And you are absolutely right, Pink, I think the police have done exactly the right thing for this little girl.

I completely agree that the police knew exactly what they were doing!!

A friend asked me the other day what I thought and I told him it was just plain weird that she wasn't returned home...... I'm so proud of our Police force for keeping her away!!

Hi Pink.

This has been a strange one from the off.

I know we should not judge, but the police would seem to be vindicated in their reason for not returning Shannon home.

But as a child, Shannon will only want to be with her mum...wee soul.

They did say the pornographic images were not of Shannon or her siblings, not that it would have stayed that way if he had not been found out,I bet he would have got round to her eventually.
