I never thought the election would sort anything in fact am surprised it hasn't escalated sooner!
Maybe the new government (if they ever get into power) are corrupt but it has to be a step in the right direction.

I have this image in my mind of the Zanu-PF party adopting that as their song at the annual party conference

why do I find myself humming "Always look on the bright side of life"

eRRolSheep

eRRolSheep Report 2 Apr 2008 23:16

Of course there will be a blood bath - if anybody believes that this election will sort everything out then they are at best naive - civil war is looming

Ann what worries me is that he won't go even after all this and there will be a bloodbath - I sincerely hope I am wrong!

But apparently there are now fears that the new government (and let us not forget that is not the case yet) is perceived as being just as bad

AnnCardiff

AnnCardiff Report 2 Apr 2008 23:07

thanks for that Kaz - I was beginning to think I was alone on that one!!!! Please God he goes without a fuss - they've had enough misery in Zambabwe - they need stability now and some non-corrupt government officials. Be a good idea if they invited back all the white farmers they chucked out - at least food was being grown and the Zimbabweans had jobs and housing - now they have nothing

I so hope he is out Ann - that man has needed to be stopped for such a long time! Sorry don't agree with Errol at all about needing people like Mugabe to balance - in fact am sure we do not need people like Mugabe at all.

What I want to know is why is he actually still living when the average life span is something like 34 years!

AnnCardiff

AnnCardiff Report 2 Apr 2008 22:24

Well it's getting to look more likely that he's on his way out!!!!

AnnCardiff

AnnCardiff Report 1 Apr 2008 21:55

well I know what's wrong and what's right and I certainly don't need the likes of Mugabe or Hitler or Fred West or any moron to remind me what's wrong - I already know. I know we'll never have Utopia and that life will never be fair, much as I'd like it to be.

eRRolSheep

eRRolSheep Report 1 Apr 2008 21:50

Rhodesia (and I will always call it Rhodesia) has a history sadly. There is absolutely no excuse for the genocide, beatings and so on. But we will always have a world where there is wrong - we will never have utopia and while there is wrong it reminds us of right.

AnnCardiff

AnnCardiff Report 1 Apr 2008 21:46

can't go along with you on that I'm afraid Errol - there is no justification whatever for the suffering that has been laid on the people of Zimbabwe during Mugabe's dictatorial reign

eRRolSheep

eRRolSheep Report 1 Apr 2008 21:44

If you look at the whole picture and the dynamics of world politics we actually need people like Robert Mugabe to balance - although it would be wonderful to have an ideal world we need every minus to counter every plus

eRRolSheep Report 1 Apr 2008 21:39

Absolutely not Ann - I do not mean that at all
Malc - no worries
